How is a post count even an achievement? You are adding a rank to someone with a certain post count without any bar of measurement which shows the quality and contribution in our forum.

Obviously because we have a special purpose at this forum. The color distincts us from regular users so that our entire userbase knows who is a staff member. For them it would be easier to get help when required, and it gives them a better view on who to believe or come to when they have a problem on the forum.
