Hello, my dearest community.

 

Well, let my start off by saying that, yes. I've searched all over the interwebz, and couldn't find a real solution. Seeing as the only forums I'm active on are the 4D1 and aGaming one's, I've decided to make a topic here.

 

Well, my PC lags horribly when I install a game or program, or even extract a file from WinRaR. However when I'm on my PC playing a YouTube video, or even rendering a video and such, it works perfectly, no lag whatsoever.

 

Can't be my PC, well, it could be the hard drive, but I doubt it.

 

PC specs:

 

-AMD X6 Processor overclocked to 3.31GHz

-4GB of DDR2 800MHz RAM (2x2GB)

-EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTS 250 1GB GDDR3

-500GB HDD, 2x 1000GB External Drives (Which aren't plugged in most of the time, they're all running at 7200RPM.)

-650W Gaming PSU

 

Well, that's most of the important specs, anyone have any ideas? I know my PC's a bit old, well, some parts of it. But I seriously doubt it's that.

*Edit*: Yes, I've tried de-fragging my HDD's. Even before my OS starts. Still the same problem.

well if its just while your installing or extracting....it will almost always lag...(i think it uses CPU?)

looks like you have a great cpu tho...so it could also be your HD speeds...

 

is it major lag? like.......unable to do anything? or just a bit twitchy

I'm 100% sure when you reinstall Windows it will work perfect

Yeah, major major lag. For instance, I click on the start button. Takes about 20 seconds to open it...

And if that doesn't fix it;p ? How about if you have dust on your PC parts ? I know my PC lagged like shit until I gave it a nice clean:)

isnt it normal that it lags? because it always lags for me when im installing/extracting.... im wondering if it would lag on a ssd tough.

Nevermind guys. I re-installed Windows. Same version. Same everything. Doesn't lag anymore. In-fact, I'm just extracting Modern Warfare 2.
