so i recently got my hands on a VPS, downloaded mw2, applied patch... i got the dedi running and it says it sent heartbeats to the servers.. yet i dont see it in my server list.. neither on http://s.mufff.in/iw4msl

Yea obv a firewall/port problem. Make sure you open the port the server is running on (e.g. 28960) and add an exception for your iw4m.exe or the port (udp) in your firewall/router.

If its a VPS I highly doubt it could be a port forwarding issue..

depends on his host. mostly you just have to add an exception to your firewall..

To the firewall, yes. But he obviously won't have problems with port forwarding since he's not supposed to reach the gateway to configure anything.

And firewall exceptions use to be created automatically on prompt. I'm assuming that either some file is missing or some mod scripts are crossing, preventing the server from starting properly.

Firewalls of Windows Server Distributions are configured by default that they block every type of traffic except some standard windows stuff. You can configure the firewall that you will get that prompt, but personally I feel more secure adding the ports/programs by hand

Nope... by default, windows server prompts just like a normal windows (atleast until 2008r2).

I'm being lazy to explore 2012, since it seems the same as 2008r2, just with a slightly different UI and small "perks" such as centered server management.
