why do you think locking a valid topic is acceptable when a few idiots quote a valid point to ensure that the admins realise that users want a particular feature

not to mention the fact that fucking tech support seem to be global mods. whats the point in global mods if tech sup an go about locking threads willy nilly?

We only have full permissions for the /projects/ section. We have permissions in here and introductions because it used to get spammed and we needed to move topics

i locked that topic due to the fact it was going to be susceptible to spam/too many quote trains as such.

it's also already been looked at by an admin (nta), so I felt it was okay to lock it.

but its all about the discussion of the thread - throwing around ideas et al. no point locking it as soon as the project leader sees it

When you have problems you can use the 'Report this post - button' ._.

okay then whats the point of this subforum you big dummy

im not going to go around looking at every mod post and reporting it

Not like it gets used a lot.

ThatВґs the problem. I always look in the MCP for new reports...

That's not really your job though, yours is more or less to help people in the /projects/ section.

I don't know about the rest of Tech Support but I moderate the sections I have access to the moderation powers in. Currently they are /projects/, Admin Outpost and Introductions. Still, even in the admin outpost and introductions we only have move and lock powers. This was to combat the spam since hardly any of the G mods took care of it.

We have the powers so we can use them. If we see that something should be locked, we lock it to prevent idiots spamming the topic with more useless shit.

Note it wasn't just for that reason, but because it was susceptible to various rule breaks (quote trains), and it had a lot of spam featured within it.

Do tell me how did that topic deserve to get locked while people were expressing their opinion, or simply stating they want the old theme back. I do agree with Silverfin with this one.

Quote trains happen all the time on the forum yet no warnings usually get issued for that.

Because people were 'quote training', which is a disallowed item on the forum. I would have simply removed their posts and posted something along the lines of 'Do not continue quote training', however I cannot, so I decided to lock it as users would continue quote-training after seeing the above examples.

If anyone with ranks above me disagrees with my decision on locking it, please feel free to unlock it and I won't do anything else regarding the specific topic in question.

Usually somewhere in /dev/, where I feel I don't have the position/right to actually warn them for that.

then leave it there for a gmod to pick up, possibly with a report?

hey "UL7RA", "Apansy" and "[k00p] k00p", thanks ever so much for staying on topic. i really appreciate it.

a sincere thank you to ghosty for agreeing with me on this though.

side note: my report from 2 days ago just got closed 10 mins ago. despite numerous staff people being online before now.

Tech Support can only see the reports from the sections in which they have powers (projects), so he can only work with stuff that's directly related to his work.

The gmods (other than ghosty) are pretty lazy and don't really come online too often so to maintain forum order, its pretty obvious that Tech Support will have to do it since these guys are almost always online. let's take the case of spambots, I haven't seen anyone other than faint or ghosty moving the topics to the bin. During my term, I would ban a spambot and after like one or two hours some guy might see it and then move it.

If I was tech support and "Requests for help" came with language like this one I wouldn't even bother with a reply.

I little bit of respect for the time these guys give for free may earn a better response.
