That's some stubborness. As 1920x1080 is considered HD too, beyond HD would still be more than 1920x1080. Beyond HD can't be between 1280x720 and 1920x1080 as that's HD.

1920x1080 = 1080p = full HD

1280x720 = 720p = HD

Beyond HD = anything higher than 1280x720

This is not a difficult concept.

Don't make me look in my logic book for professional terms again, because your thinking is logically wrong (and yes, I studied logic in school).

As FullHD still falls into HD category, beyond HD would be beyond that (obviously). Beyond HD is not within HD itself, so it can't be smaller than anything HD, and FullHD is HD. If you were to continue with your argument, then you would have to say Full HD doesn't belong into HD category.

Are you going to keep anything from your current PC? If yes, what are your current specifications?

Also, that store seems rather expensive, try to find a cheaper store.

Actually no. As it's a laptop, 3 years old too, closing up on 4. Hmmm, might try to scoop around to see if I can find anything rather cheap. Which stuff would you recommend ?

Get a

Intel i5, 8GB of Ram, 500GB HDD, nVidia GTX580

Its quite cheap also..

They don't seem to have a 580, though. Also, is 1GB for GFXs good for later games, or should I go for something along the lines of 2GB ?

Depends on what you plan to do with it and how long you're keeping it for; mind you, my 1.5gb 580 hasn't has any issues with my 3+gb of HD skyrim textures, and I only have 4gb of system RAM :P

Its a little bit over your price range but its a great computer :)

Or alternativly you could exchange the disk for this one, which is the same size just a little bit slower and also 60 euros cheaper.

haha well by beyond HD i mean beyond 1920x1080 pixels.. i hope this crears the "HD" prolem..

Exactly what I thought, and yeah, your expectations are too high. Just a monitor with resolution "beyond HD" like you call it would in most cases exceed your budget, as 2560x1440 monitors are in most cases 27" or 30" and are very costly (except the cheap korean Yamakasi Catleap and Achieva monitors)

It's a great build however I would swap the ram with Vengeance due to lower voltage.

850w for that build is overkill, the 650w will be more than enough.

Ok, so I now have two builds that really interest me, Masato's and XyCro's. Thanks to everyone for chiping in :>

And XyCro, the budget doesn't really worry me, as I can probably always make it bigger, or just reduce something/buy somewhere cheaper.

Then your monitor would be your entire budget.

Not if he buys a CRT. lol

He is asking for a monitor that has resolution higher than 1920x1080. Read the whole thing next time.

What about 2560x2048, 2048x1536, 1920x1440, 2304x1440, 1920x1200 and all those other resolutions higher than 1920x1080 that were available on CRT monitors?

._.

With CRT i meant CRT monitor. That should be quite obvious.

And most CRT's do provide that so your argument is invalid.

Yeah, and I guess those are really easy to find right now.

I know you meant CRT monitor, but it's highly unlikely anyone will buy CRT monitor with resolution over 1920x1080. Even if someone wanted to buy it, would he be able to find one for sale?

1 used from $1,899.99

Beats the argument that he could fit a "Beyond HD" monitor if it's CRT in the budget.

I was mainly aiming for the easy to find part, since it's the first result on DuckDuckGo if you type in the name of the monitor .

Shouldn't be to hard to find used ones on ebay, which won't be over 100$...

I still have one here with max. resolution of 2048x1536. And that one cost me about 50€ some years ago.

Still, many deciding factors in here: Can he even buy on ebay? Does he even want CRT monitor?...

And last, FullHD LED backlit monitor has much better picture than CRT with much greater resolution.

Indeed, that CRT suggestion wasn't even really serious. Who would really want such a big thing?

Just someone who needs CRT's color fidelity, i'd guess.
