Desktop programmers thread

Опубликовано:

Yes, i created this, because i am bored... If serious, i just would like to talk with newbie or senior desktop(c#,c++,java, etc.) programmers, how did you started, why, and especially where did you find material to learn from? Thanks.

Sorry if i did any english grammar mistakes.

I started messing with computers around 8 years old. I learned everything I could from forums, tech guys in my house, and even my relatives. At age 11 I successfully ddos-ed my moms website, and a few weeks later I found out about exe files (thinking they were some magical colorful icon you just click on and it does magic for you xD) . After gaining knowledge on them, I started with simple exe's, self extracting archives (SEP) . As I continued to age 13, I started with command prompts, terminals, batch files etc. I became know as "The Nerd" qt my school. Of course i didn't mind it... They would ask me to helP them with computer problems, viruses, stupid compatibility errors like x64 and x32 (they didnt even know what the word architecture meant... [in technical terms]) and stuff like that. So I eventually HAD to start charging at least a buck or two for my "Services" (which were really nothing xD). A age 14 I got into JS and c# programming, and I was good for right there... But at age 16 I started C++, and my brain got overwhelmed somehow.... Still don't know how... But I just stuck with C#. Sorry for my entire life story I just got really into it.... Plus there isn't even an answer for this post... :ugeek:

ps o have alot more knowledge on other things like pc's in general and Linux, but I just posted what you had asked for...

My story is same, when i was 12 or 13 i guess i saw my first desktop ....i have seen them in ads on TV but never Actually saw them ... my cousins buyed one and went to their house every day to see it ....i was amused by it :).......they would'nt let me touch it but finally they allowed me (u know i was persistence)

after a few years i got used to it ....working with windows only, i started with linux when i was 15, as @windowSe7en "EXE magic" ya thats what i thought i always thought how they make EXE then i tried u know(right click on EXE and see source but i got numbers so actually a fail :)), then i started some batch scripting, when i finally got my computer, when i was 15 so i thought do some batch scripting , i learned batch till , most of the things started around age 15 :).......,when i was 16 i got intrested in C and C++,VC++ and now, i am good at C (i am 18 now )(never worked on a big project actually ), then i started with C under Linux and now i am here learning C#,Java and PHP,Assembly ,i learned maximum stuff between 16-17 ....

and i know a little bit reversing too :)

PS - no way related to actual topic, so do u want motivation ?

EDIT 1 : See them name's in my signature , i want to be like them :) ,they are my so called idols

as for me I am now 90 years old and I am just now starting to do thing like c++, PHP, and c#. Can you imagine 90-year-old guy just now starting to learn programming language?

@ludkiller , yeah, imkinda looking for motovation and just want to discuss little smarter people than just 12 years old gamer kids.. My little story is that i got my first computer then i was, i think, 8 years old and i got stuck on games for like... 6 years... And im really angry at myself because of it, what i could learn in these years... At the age of 14 i started little messing around with hardware/software , well helping my friends with their problems and finally at the age of 16 in my school IT class started teaching c++ and i got so interested in that whole programming, i didn get enough information in lessons, so i started learning at home and im still here, im interested in game development, but first i need to learn to code properly, i created few little such as tick tac toe (i think thats how its called), guess the number but that is nothing even compared to basic games with graphical interface... So thats basically thats it, im here now writing this and still thinking where to find motivation to stop reading 9gag for hours and start learning to code..

Nice list, DAX is a beast, Geohot was great when he did iOS stuff.. His PS3 stuff just enables idiots to ruin online games with their mod-menus, not a big fan of that (mostly, I do love the homebrew idea obviously).

I know a little bit of coding (really basic stuff), but I can't really motivate myself to do it. It just seems like something I'd have to spend a lot of time on, while other things don't cost me any trouble (talent or a lack of talent, maybe?).

DAX and Geohot left the scene maybe now its our turn to show them what we can do :) , We will preccede our generation and hack PS4 and PSVITA (Obviously for Educational Purpose and relase the keys )

i am learning PPC assembly (RISC AND CISC BOTH)

if u need motivation look up to some one as an idol , u know i look up to GeoHot (Iphone hacker at age 17 Untethered and Brew enabled ) DarkAlex(Contributor in PSP scene )

FOr motivation a project will be good ,but first learn how to code :) start with

C(still good and old , OS are designed using C,speed of execution nothing beats it ) then C++ then visual C++ then C# and then move on :)

i can get u started if u want providing some nice books PM me if u want

I started programming with BASIC when I was 11, and by age 12 I had racked up almost 1000 posts on D.I.C. and countless useless programs. I eventually moved onto VS2010, and when that trial expired, SharpDevelop. Now I reserve-engineer, 'cause fuq da p0lice.

Just a joke man... I saw here people always talking serious and then fighting telling w**f... etc.

but am not a young man either...

imagine a 90-year-old guy trying to write codes! isn't it a torture? You probably make him completely blind in the 1st day of trying to write codes...

Lol what age are you now ? Did you go to school for reverse-engineering or just learned by trial&error + tutorials ?

I started programming when I was 11 too, now , 4 years later, I got intermediate skills in C++/C# and languages for webdevelopment(I just use them when I'm bored as hell  )
