(TL:DR... Skip to what I really wanted to know)
From aIW to today:
Hi. I am Cheezeaza,
Ever since the first Modern Warfare came out, my friends and I would be online whenever we could. We dreamed about playing in class, but it wasn't until I saw this: South Park that I was determined to find a way to do just that.
A google search for MW2 Lan got me this: AlterIWnet *Click* It was exactly what we could of wanted and more. It was great with its portable, non-steam version of MW2 and an open source master server.
Things seemed to keep getting better with alterOps (not the spam wave
) and then alterMW3, so I was online almost everyday until my surgery. The weeks after my surgery were too painful to even think about COD, so I slept most of the time. After the burning feeling when you breathe passed, I decided to play some aIW to pass the time. *click*
"Hello, dear user. As the clock passed 2012-03-13, alterIWnet might not be alive anymore..."
I was shocked but I knew this would happen one day. I thought of all the work lost... All the great things accomplished since the last public commit in 2009.
Luckily I had a flash drive with a old version that worked with the public IWnetServer... No anticheat, no problem. It was a lan right? I had my lan working...
I saw a group trying to continue what aIW left. I wanted to help the people who were without a working lan or a way to play, so I signed up with aRev eventually become a developer for them.
InterLabs started up and I loved to try it out until I was banned almost immediately from the website and the IRC channel.
Anyway, what I really wanted to know:
I don't understand why we (aRev, FourDeltaOne, InterLabs) all have to be complete rivals. Why can't we help each other out with their issues? Why do we have to constantly attack (or plan on attacking) each other? With hacking, spreading (of viruses), bruteforcing, DDoSing, or even lying, slandering, or saying things without knowing the facts?
Aren't we are all trying to achieve the same thing?
Please help me understand or let me know how you feel...
Thanks for reading,
Cheezeaza
