How to create your own backgrounds in the Main screen!

Опубликовано:

Hello fellow FDO members, I wanted to give a little help on how to create your own backgrounds for the main screen.

Essential programs: Photoshop or GIMP -Tutorial will be done on Photoshop

Tutorial

1) Download these files: -REMOVED FOR REVIEW DUKIP-

2) Extract all files but the z_Background.rar

3) Find any photo you want as the background. Make sure it's scaled at 1280x720!

4a) Head to this website for Photoshop only! http://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-text ... -photoshop

and install it. Make sure to install the correct bit version.

4b) Head to this website for GIMP only: http://code.google.com/p/gimp-dds/

5a) If scaled above go to picresize.com to resize your picture into 1280x720 Pixels.

5b) If scaled below, the picture CANNOT be used.

6) Open Photoshop

7) Input the CORRECT sized picture.

8) Save As and save it as menu_sp_image.dds. And adjust the settings -when it pops up- to 8.8.8 RGB 24bpp|unsigned, No MIP maps, and 2D texture.

9) With the .dds created open converter.exe

10) Press Explore and find your created menu_sp_image.dds

11) Choose: Convert to IWI AND same output as input.

12) Click convert.

13) With the .dds converted create 3 new folders: images, new, and old.

14) Put: new and old into images

15) Put the new .iwi file into new.

16) Open z_Background.rar

17) Go into images and EXTRACT menu_sp_image.iwi

18) Put the OLD/extracted .iwi into the old folder.

19) Open CRCFixer.exe

20) Inside the new folder click the Link to where the file is so if it's located on your desktop it would be like

C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop\images\new

Copy that link and paste it into where it says New: inside CRCFixer.exe

21) Do the same for 20 except for use the folder old and and copy that link and paste into Original:

22) Now with both links are in hit Execute.

23) Wait about 15-30seconds

24) The "fixing" will never finish. After the 15-30seconds hit quit.

25) Go to your \new\ folder.

26) Open z_Background.rar

27) Go inside the images folder.

28) Drag the new menu_sp_image.iwi into the .rar's image folder.

29) When addressed for adding the folder into the .rar make sure to hit an Add and Replace files.

30a) Go to Control Panel *or search for this next part* > Folder and Search Options, then click the View tab. Uncheck the box titled "Hide extensions for known file types". This will enable you to see File extensions.

30b) With the updated z_Background.rar rename it to z_Background.iwd.

31) Drag the z_Background.iwd into your MW2's \main\ folder.

32) Launch iw4m.exe or LaunchIW4M.exe

33) Done.

I second using the new converter, I was unable to create my backgrounds because my converter would not convert anything over 1000KB this one did.

Thanks for that, Also if you don't mind adding to the tutt could you add in the nvidia setting for the glow file (mockup_bgglow)

I messed up the tut and fixed it real quick. And for the bgglow I will do my best..

to protect other users I will post a virustotal since that rule pretty much went out the window.

https://www.virustotal.com/file/eae81c2 ... 340053020/

oh wait... 21/42 detected... hmmmmmm thats like 50%

WHAT? Dude I even use this files it has no viruses..

I took it down for review btw.. MS SE didn't even detect it..

Also you don't scan .rar's Uploading video now

So it seems like the convert actually did have viruses. I removed the link. Sorry guys you guys need to find another converter.
