Actually, most CPU's can't handle 65+*C. They start degrading really fast. In a week or two, your CPU'll be done for if you play games on a daily basis and your PC get's to 65+*C. 80 - 90*C is sure to fuck up your CPU one way or another though. AMD and Intel both recommend to keep their CPU's at a max temperature of about 65*C. Of course, it may wary from CPU to CPU, but they're all pretty much on the same max temp. Keep it below 63*C.

 

That's bullshit. My Sempron 2800+ idles on 50C and is still going strong after 5/6 years.

 

If that's your logic, then the CPU would instantly die at 98C, which is the thermal shutdown.

^ full day of gaming, nothing ever goes wrong....(gets up to 80C when im rendering some 3d stuff i made tho)
