Hey guys, I'm relatively new to 4D1.

 

I installed the 4D1 client a month or so ago and it worked fine back then. Then I uninstalled MW2 for a while and deleted all the IW4 files from the Local folder and re installed MW2 and 4D1 files again. Also, I've read some forums and downloaded iw_23.iwd (which I didn't have) and placed it into the main folder, which didn't work.

 

It might be worthy to note, that the first time I installed the 4D1 client, I got a message saying that the program may not have installed correctly, but after pressing 'find a solution' la di da, it installed again with no issues.

 

When I start up the client, it works fine...for about 10 seconds, after which I just get a windowed black screen and an error, which I cannot read, even if I try to click on it.

 

Here's a pic below of the error. I'm unable to see the error message.

and if you're wondering, I'm listening to 'Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand'

Go to /modern warfare 2/m2demo/ and upload your console_mp.log for me to inspect.

I enabled Aero and I've found that my error is:

 

Could not load image 'preview_mp_compact'.......

 

also, I found that I hadn't actually put iw_23.iwd in my main folder, but after I did, the same error still appeared.

Download iw_22.iwd from here and put it in /modern warfare 2/main/.

The console log is too large to type here and when I try to attach it it says 'The extension log is not allowed.' I even tried changing it to a .txt file but this site is too smart.

Hello I'm a new user and I have the same problem as stated in this thread but I have followed all the steps in the FAQs and downloaded the iw_22 and iw_23 files but I still have the same error message appear again and again after about 10 seconds.

 

Unable to upload the console log because once I get the error i can't seem to go into windowed mode to look at the log. Please advise.

 

UPDATE:

 

I just went to check my log and sure enough i found this error.

 

[ 17221] ERROR: image 'images/preview_mp_compact.iwi' is missing

 

However I have downloaded the iw_22.iwd file multiple times, placed it in the main folder every time and have checked it against my brother's (another user) version and we are still unable to find the cause of the error.

 

could it be another file?

You don't have to have the game running to look at the log. Go to /modern warfare 2/m2demo/ and upload your console_mp.log or copy and paste the log from notepad at pastebin.com

You could try open iw_22.iwd with 7-Zip and make check if is images/preview_mp_compact.iwi there.

 

Yes it is there. I also tried downloading and copying ALL the iwd files from the respository but still no luck.

ok @FortunateSon download the DLCs and it should work, it worked for me

 

P.S. Google AlterIwnet DLCs to find the DLCs

Yes, since your error is a "preview mp abandon" one.

Download iw_23 from here and place it in IW4M/main/ folder.
