Umm... I can kind of see that you live in India from the 4D1 profile, but I'll ask where you live anyway. Where do you live? For example: I live in China and my ping is 90-200 because some Chinese people still play Modern Warfare 2 I'm pretty sure it's location and that your internet is only 3mbps. That's pretty low for gaming in my opinion. Not much you can do except... maybe stop downloading stuff if you are?

Step 1 - TcpAckFrequency

THIS IS FOR WINDOWS XP/(SOME) VISTA

Type "regedit" in windows "run.." dialog to bring up registry menu

 

Then find:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\

 

There will be multiple NIC interfaces listed in there, find the one you use to connect to the internet, there will be several interfaces listed (they have long names like {7DBA6DCA-FFE8-4002-A28F-4D2B57AE8383}. Click each one, the right one will have lots of settings in it and you will see your machines IP address listed there somewhere. Right-click in the right hand pane and add a new DWORD value, name it TcpAckFrequency, then right click the entry and click Modify and assign a value of 1.

 

You can change it back to 2 (default) at a later stage if it affects your other TCP application performance. it tells windows how many TCP packets to wait before sending ACK. if the value is 1, windows will send ACK every time it receives a TCP package.

 

Step 2 - TCPNoDelay

This one is pretty simple. (If you cannot find the MSMQ then use the win7 way)

Edit: Enable MSMQ by going to "Turn Windows Features On or Off" and looking for MSMQ and tick the box next to it. Reboot and there it will be in your registry.

 

Type "regedit" in windows "run.." dialog to bring up registry menu

Right-click in the right hand pane and add a new DWORD value, name it TCPNoDelay, then right click the entry and click Modify and assign a value of 1.

3. What type of internet connection are you on? (Phone Line, Cable, Fibre Optic)?

 

4. To do a thorough improvement on your internet connection (When using a phone line), try replacing the Microfilters.

 

5. Also try lowering the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) on your Modem (You will need to visit the modem's interface for this).

 

6. Do not restart your Modem in a frantic attempt to speed up your internet connection. Restarting it does much more harm than good!!! If you are going to restart it once, restart it at around 11am when interference is at its lowest in your area.

 

7. Keep all electrical appliances away from the Modem at all times to minimize interference.

 

8. Plug your Modem into the First or Master Socket which enters your property. Do not plug your modem into a Telephone extension socket.

 

9. If you are using Wireless, try changing the Wireless Channel to a less congested one.

 

10. Use a hard wired connection for optimal data throughput.

 

11. If you are having problems with some websites not loading correctly, try going into Command Prompt and typing in: ipconfig /flushdns
