Win7 - to update or not to update

Опубликовано:

Now for the question: should I update my system to Win7?

Specs:

AMD Sempron le-1100 1.9Ghz single core

1GB DDR2

GeForce EN9500GT 1gb

And yes, I'm gonna upgrade my proc and RAM, but will I be able to run BFBC2 the same/better than now with Win7?

Depends on what you want to upgrade, but at this state lolnope.

Well, I'm getting a 3 core AMD processor and 2 more gigs of ram and then I'll surely update to Win7, it's just that I heard it handles games better than XP and were wondering if I should update.

Here are the minimum system requirements, for your interest:

Processor: Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHz
RAM: 2GByte
Graphics: GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900
VRAM: 256 MByte
Betriebssystem: Windows XP

there's no reason at all anyone should use XP anymore, not even if they're on some old system that somehow can only use 512 MB of RAM due to a broken motherboard

Well my mom's netbook runs Win 7 just fine on 1 gigs of ram, intel atom cpu and intel gma 950.

Can't play games but eh whatever.

Also another question: should I use an older CPU that has more speed (3.15 Overclocked) or the sempron le-1100? (if i wanna stay on XP and play games)

since when is 1gb 512mb? anyway, games that run properly already should only be 'broken' by lack of RAM, which with 1 GB might happen quite easily.

the gpu is the biggest thing that matters, but in this case both seem quite broken

Concerning the last two posts, I personally, wouldn't suggest moving to Windows 8. For one, its going to take another year or so for all your programs to properly support/update for the new OS. Second, Windows 8 is just Microsoft's answer to Mac (hipster, dumbfuck-friendly piece of shit)... Hell, Windows 8 should have just passed on as another Service Pack for Windows 7.

Third, Windows 7 SP1's complete support is not going away for a hell of a while, and that's to say if there's no Service Pack 2 in the future, which if so will just extend that date.

My choice would either get Windows 7 or build/buy a new computer with 7.

will I be able to run BFBC2 the same/better than now with Win7?

Applies for both XP and 7:

AMD Sempron le-1100 1.9Ghz single core - Hell no

1GB DDR2 - No

GeForce EN9500GT 1gb - With a better Processor and more RAM: Likely/Yes

there's no reason at all anyone should use XP anymore

it's not as if it's a completely new OS, it's still Windows, and everything you will ever use will run properly on it.

Likely, all programs will work but there's always that one rouge program that will be a stubborn piece of ass with an upgraded OS upon the first few months.

no such thing exists

if it does, compatibility mode is made especially for those annoying version checks
