Probably not what you want but you can always use the privilege setting in the compatibility tab of every executable.

That and UAC disabled works for me without a problem.

But in Win7, I didn't even need to do that, and doing that for a million programs is annoying

Well, if using Windows 8 isn't annoying altogether, I don't know what is :D

No, but I usually forget that I need to do that, needing me to reinstall it again

and I'm lazy

note that I've not seen an installer that required manual selection of elevation in the past 3 years; so unless you click 'no' on the consent prompts there seems to be no issue

Well, there were for me..

This is only here if it works:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

; Disable User Account Control ( UAC )

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]

"EnableLUA"=dword:00000000

"ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin"=dword:00000002

"ConsentPromptBehaviorUser"=dword:00000001

; Disable UAC Permanent

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\luafv]

"Start"=dword:00000004

(should disable UAC, as setting it to never notify doesn't disable it appearantly)

I think thats good because you never start an installer more time accidentally, and never runs a program without your permission like at Xp (many times I have cancelled what I didn't want to do that, but it's started without my permission.) And it's keeps your OS's control in your hand.

Could you tell me a few examples where Windows 8 beats Windows 7? This is an honest question, I've only run it on a VM so far...

Also, I still have to find out if format metro will work as intended or if I just will have to rip out the damn WIN keys from my keyboards, to stop reminding me that Metro really exists and my LCD is not a fucking touch-screen. :P

The Metro thingy, is actually quite nice, you get used to it after a while and it doesnt respond to win-key if you are in a fullscreen application afaik... I might be wrong but it hasn't happened for me atleast and I usually turn off my windows key since I have a Razer keyboard :)

Overall it is, IMO a bit faster then Win7 but, it's also just like Win7 overall... There arent any visible changes except obviously some new icons and such but that is all you see ;p

In fact I have just been using Windows 7 for a year or so, but every weekday I have to work with Windows XP.

As far as Windows 8 is not the new likely "skippable" OS (>Windows Vista) I'l probably get used to it.

But as far as I can remember, people have always been resistant to changes in OSes, like when XP came out, most people I knew where all:

"fuck that fancy piece of shit, I'll be running Windows '98SE for decades"

A lot of them were very resilient, also taking into account the previously skippable OS (>Windows ME) ...it's most likely a natural response.

PS. Win8 great and faster than win7 in my system config. let it try its best...

If that's the case then I better install it in my ssd asap

use compatibility tab in properties for 'these' apps.

or you should try CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER...

...

Didn't I say I want to without doing all that

also, mfw UAC can't be disabled by setting it to never notify, needed to do it via regedit

also, what is this, metro apps can't even be used with UAC disabled

(not like I would use Metro apps but still)
