Long time Hitman fan. Played when it came out.

Hitman: Absolution sucks.

Discuss.

EDIT: If you want a rather lengthy explanation+video material, etc, I'd recommend this PC first-impressionist in general. Although he admins not having played the original Hitman as I did, his points are valid.

For my part, it seem to be looks nice,

Btw, you did you think that ?

Haven't played it yet but it looks pretty good.

And saying that a game sucks without naming any reason is just stupid.

You can walk past ANYTHING while burning Instinct, but if you play on purist mode, you can't. Because the game is intended to use "Instinct" (all difficulty levels except Purist have it) as a means of getting by.

> first Hitman was all-over the world, every mission unique

> this Hitman is in 2-3 locales, tedious and repetative

This is rather self-explanatory.

> Hitman used to hit men

> Hitman now running from teh law

You are basically pulling off a reverse Max Payne 3.

He doesn't do contracts anymore, he's just some random-fag running from the cops. Used to be a goddamn killer for hire, now he's a nobody.

I can go on an on.

I'm downloading it right now and probably gonna play it on the weekend

But after hearing all this I'm kinda turned off by the game

it's funny how ign "thinks" the game is much better then prequels

You shouldn't trust to IGN.

Interesting thumbnail. It completely lacks any content from the video.

That's why you should watch TotalBiscuit for any major game. Well not all.

how does watching a video review compare to reading text reviews, which is what IGN offers primarily?

Sadly I have to agree with this. All this new helping system, seeing enemys trough walls etc. It doesnt really give you the challenge feeling like it used to. They just made another easy game for the 12 year olds.

This game sure may be fun and challenging to some, but as a hitman game it's a bitter disappointment! I'm not against innovation in a game series (I encourage it and it's fun to find new elements of play in your favorite game) as long as it doesn't corrupt the core of the game. And that's what has happend to hitman in this latest release! Hitman used to be about large mission maps ("It's a big casino") and the creative freedom you had as a player to achieve your goals. Now it feels like you're in a straitjacket compared to previous hitman games. Absolution is so linear (going from A to B) most of the time that it is really annoying. The introduction of checkpoints (which in my opinion don't fit a hitman game at all!) emphasizes this even more. Levels are way to small and you have to hide and sneak so much that the environment is set up in an unnatural way to let you do it. Implementing features from other games ruin the true hitman feeling even further and make it all to main stream (a save bet from the development team? Well it was a wrong bet for me I'm afraid). Despite the good things in Absolution (great graphics, superb voice acting by David Bateson and some good new elements (like the new fighting mode) it remains a letdown for a true hitman fan like me. I actually felt so bad about Absolution I stopped playing it. I pity myself that I pre ordered it. The disks are in the trash, the case I'll keep to store my vacation photos on DVD. Sorry, but this ain't hitman...
