Since alterIWnet M2 the optimization its bad, M1 runs almost in a crap PC, but with M2/IW4M the memory its almost full, also the processor.

 

I have a good PC, almost $1000 dollars on it, and the menu of M2/IW4M its very laggy. In M1 I can minimize with no troubles, while in M2/IW4M recover the game its very hard without an error or a PC collapse.

 

Lots of friend trying to play in the M2/IW4M can hardly run the game, while in the M1 they can run it at max settings.

 

What happened between this two versions? Is this going to be fixed at any time?

 

PD: With "M1" I dont mean alterRev.

It runs just fine for me, about 200 FPS full settings.

It's exactly the same for me. I've never seen anyone complaining about it. The custom maps tend to eat resources, but apart from that, there are very few differences.

 

EDIT: Oh, and about the Alt-Tabbing: /r_fullscreen 0, /r_noborder 1, /vid_restart

I think M2 takes up more resources because it loads SP fastfiles.

Only when you've played them; it's not like it has them in memory all the time from startup.

I was going to say the same thing, In the new maps it loads 2 fastiles, but why eat memory from the startup?

Do you have 4 GB of RAM? If so, I could look into the large pre-allocated buffers... somehow there's 300 MB more of them than usual. never mind, those are caused by some other unknownness.

 

Also, make sure you don't have any stray iw4m.exe processes floating around... the crash-on-exit sadly doesn't close the process properly :/

 

(oh, and I'm using an ancient system and have no such issues whatsoever... I do have 8 GB of RAM though)

I had this like a month ago, I never seemed to check my processes why my pc was being slow all of a sudden.

 

So I just went and played BF3, while the iw4m process was still running. I became frustrated why BF3 was lagging so much, and my pc was endlessly rattling. Until I took the liberty to check my processes and saw that iw4m.exe was still running.

 

It never happened to me after that though.
