I want to modify the sound in my iw5m game, not the sound of weapons and bombs but for example when you have the predator you hear "predator missle ready for launch" and I want to modify that with my voice but doing that will I be banned or not?

You will no longer be able to join servers which have sv_pure enabled because it checks the integrity of the iwd's when you connect. Not sure how many servers have this enabled though. Your best bet is to just leave it as it is.

Yeah, they aren't. I forgot that the speaking sounds would be in those. You just can't edit sounds that are in the normal iw_xx iwds.... Or you can patch the crc32 of the file before compressing it. It is possible with images, but I am not sure about sounds though.

Modifying stock IWDs is a bad idea to start (unless you plan on downloading 300MB for each modified IWD and lose your edits if you ever need to fix your installation with Steam or HLDSUT)
