I am using a HP Pavilion g6 laptop with i3 processor, 4gb ram and windows 7. It has dual graphics - intel hd graphics and amd radeon 6470 hd.

 

Since this morning my computer has been doing weird things. In the morning it started heating up quite a lot, and there was a burning smell coming out of it. So i turned it off for 2 hrs. When I opened it again it worked fine for 1 hour and then action center windows popped up telling me that my AVG software was turned off. When I tried to turn my AVG software on, it said I did not had administrator privileges and uac. But i do. So I restarted my computer and now my AVG is turned on.

 

What is going on with my computer? Could it be a virus? Why was it heating up so much in the morning? What could cause the burning smell?

 

I am really scared I do not want to lose my laptop. I have backed up most important data on Google Drive.

 

Guys help me.

Yes running that now, so far no viruses found.

Do you guys think AVG is good enough or should I switch to something else?

Also, when I started Internet Explorer just now(dont ask why), there was a warning to enable Intranet Settings or something like that.

Wtf is intranet. I seriously think there is something wrong with my laptop. Do you guys have any idea?

Also the AVG scan showed up no virus. Are there any online virus and spyware checkers that you recommend

AVG is bad.

 

Try out avast, but for malware checks, I would recommend malwarebytes.

Do a System Restore and take it back like a week if you can.

Get Advances System Care, it's very good program to heal your pc if there is an errors.
