In this thread I will teach you how to fix some of the most common errors for IW4M.

Errors such as: preview_mp_XX

Missing IW4M maps*.ff

The IW4M Map files included with my Mediafire include: invasion.ff, gulag.ff, oilrig.ff, so_ghillies.ff, and iw4_credits.ff *For IW4M maps, I think you can just run the auto updater from here: http://iw4.prod.fourdeltaone.net/bootstrap/LaunchComponent.zip and put that in your MW2 folder and extract it and launch the file InstallIW4M.exe, that might also fix your missing IW4M maps.*

 

Directx failed to initialized properly.

Fix: You're running another 3D application check task manager to see if you have either another 3D application is open or iw4m.exe open *check when iw4m is not running* if another 3D app/iw4m.exe is running END the process. Now try iw4m.exe again.

 

Can't see chat or can only be seen through TAB/opening scoreboard.

Fix: Delete config_mp.cfg *config_m2.cfg has been REMOVED from service.*

 

Lost Connection to host *ON DEMOS*: If you have recorded a demo on a LEGACY servers then you can't even use the demo. Due to an unknown problem or feature you won't be able to run demos from Legacy servers. Legacy servers are servers that have the * at the very end of the server name. -Taken from Apadayo:

you can playback legacy demos on a legacy client (makes sense doesn't it?)....

for those who are not smart that means use the aRev client to playback the demos

I have no idea if that works but try it out yourself but DON'T TURN TO AREV.

 

How to fix Impure client detected: Impure client detected error message is when you modify or are missing some files from the iwd you got an error from. Just redownload the missing one from here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3776 and then go to your MW2 folder /main/ and just drag the iwd(s) into there if prompted with Copy and Replace message click on Copy and Replace.

 

I also put in the DLC maps that cause the errors, the download link for the .iwd's are put back but you gotta find the fast files for them.

iw_04: preview_mp_afghan/boneyard/brecourt/checkpoint/derail/estate/favela/highrise/invasion/nightshift/quarry

/rundown/rust/subbase/terminal/underpass

 

iw_22: preview_mp_compact/complex/crash/overgrown/storm

 

iw_23: preview_mp_abandon/fuel2/strike/trailerpark/vacant

If you have errors with the DLC maps when you really don't have it then go find it. For people who do have the DLC files but get errors redownload them from the very very bottom of the thread.

How to install missing IW4M map .ff files: Downloading the corresponding .ff files from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?87hv0284mb2c2,'>http://www.mediafire.com/?87hv0284mb2c2, when downloaded go to your MW2 folder, go to /zone/english/ and drag and drop the .ff files downloaded into that folder.

 

How to install dlcX_ui_mp.ff: Download the files needed in my Mediafire account, open your MW2 folder, go to /zone/english/ and put whichever DLC file you downloaded and put it in. If you need to replace the file DO IT.

 

How to play MW2 in windowed mode: type these commands into console using the ~/` key *they're the same key >_>*

/r_fullscreen 0

/r_noborder 0

then once you put them both in then do /vid_restart

*If you want to play with NO BORDERS then do /r_noborder 1, and then do /vid_restart.

 

How to change your error messages to English: Download localization.txt from the Mediafire link. Head to your MW2 folder and just drag and drop into the folder. If you did it correctly it should come up with the a Copy and Replace message click Copy and Replace if so.

Also since I have seen this post a few times now: You will NOT get banned from Steam for using 4D1. Unless you know you're dumb and run iw4m.exe through the /steamapps/common/call of duty modern warfare 2/ folder which is really kinda "scary" to do. Everyone suggests you move your folder from there to somewhere else so Steam doesn't somehow detect it.

Ya I'm still trying to figure out which parts are legal per say.. I have removed my iw_22/23 because those contain the DLC which I blatantly forgot..

i have sometimes a problem with lag if i scope

if i go into scope i got less than 20fps... (normaly i have 250+ fps)

this problem isn't everytime, i got it sometimes 1 or 2 times a day and sometimes never a day

and it isn't only at 4D1, i got it at alteriwnet and the MW2 Steamversion

i don't think it can be a hardwareproblem (my pc specs: i5 quad 3.4GHz i have to look at home for the exac specs, 4gb ram, Nvidia Geforce GTX560Ti)
