Why is it starting with steam?

Опубликовано:

Why is this program starting MW2 like it would with steam? Using the steam api to say "Ingame playing Modern Warfare 2"?

How would I disable this? I've already tried playing around with the files, poking and proding and files that sound steam related, however, I have yet to find how to disable this.

Easy. Exit Steam. (Or, move your MW2 folder to your desktop instead of your Steam directory, otherwise it thinks you are launching legit MW2.)

My four Delta One DIR:

Z:\games\Four Delta One\

My steam DIR:

C:\program files (x86)\steam

Exiting steam worked, but, now how do I do it while having steam open?

Because, although your FAQ states otherwise, I feel as though any hooking to steam will increase the likely hood of some vac-related issue. I'm completely fine with "Non-steam game: Blah", but, the second it's using the API to say "In-game", nope.avi.

Although I've never worked with steam, or VAC, I feel as though I won't feel right until I do what my gut wants.

AFAIK the only way to disable it would be to edit the iw4m.dll source code.

Not neccasarilly. Like I said, shutdown steam when you play it, or, edit the source code.

But, like I said before, not really the best way of doing it considering I want steam open. I currently thinking about having it set up in sandboxie, then having steam executing the sandboxie program with arguments to start up FourDeltaOne in sandboxie... but, eh.

You can add iw4m.exe / LaunchIW4M.exe as a non-Steam game.

I can, but, then it just launches as both a non-steam game, and a steam game.

So, what is the real problem here? If you want to launch IW4M, but dont want steam to recognize it, and you want steam to still be running, and you are concerned about your VAC bannability... Hmmm... Im still thinking of a solution.

Well, I just set up sandboxie and it's all working fine. Obviously it's not the best outcome, but, I guess it'll have to do.

You won't get VAC'd because it says you're playing a game.

Library -> Add a game -> Add a nonsteam game -> choose any game -> put the name as "HERPS AND DERPS" and when you press play, it tells everyone you're in the game "herps and derps"
