I know this will reimplement dedicated servers but will the matchmaking option be avalible again as of the fact the steam version's matchmaking doesnt work aswell as the Alteriw.net one did. Im not fucked either way just a question that i had to ask outa curiosity ^^

im guessing it will be, but i have not herd anything about matchmaking. i like matchmaking too :P

Why go with matchmaking when dedicated servers are so much better? You can connect to them so much faster, the mods are quite good and with this "new&improved" server browser, we can do some hardcore filtering with the servers xD. No thanks to IWNet of course. :mrgreen:

i prefer matchmaking so i can play in a party with my friends and all be on the same team...but i also like dedi servers cause of the mods and the browser

Though it can be tedious, you can just send your friends the server IP for them to join for dedi servers. Or make your own server even ;) But even that lobby and inviting thing has its own problems, like where it just hangs on "Connecting to game attempt #99" :P

I also use matchmaking due to having matches with family, friends e.g so thats the main reason for the question but ive got a spare PC so i would host a dedi instead but as i said just a question ^^

Omg, you just read my MIND!? Please make the match-making system in such a way that it links us to dedi's!

 

Also which game build of mw2 are you going to run on? The same as Alteriwnet? Sorry for being pesty again!

Tbh i would prefer this to the Matchmaking before as the dedi's give better ping's e.g and you not stuck with some sod with a Pentium 3 @ 800mhz and a dial up connection trying to host you a game :P If you could make this possible NTAuthority this would be greatly appreciated :)

And how would that work? Unless you manage to implement filters that throw out modded servers, full servers, empty ones or hardcore/core servers, it wouldn't work. Therefore. Filters.

You (I?) would need to be able to filter iSnipe and such due to the negative effects of putting random players in mod lobbies that they don't want, or something like that.

the good thing about match making is that you can edit ur custom classes after each match if you unlocked something :mrgreen:

In CoD4 you could do that on dedicated servers too, as there was a designated pause between each match for players to either exchange random banter or change up their classes.

This was already a server variable in iw4m2..

But porting the content wouldn't really be that easy.

iw4m is based off of iw4m2 so it should be..

Well you see, i like matchmaking because its one of the only options to get into a normal match. Not to mention that there arent and idiotic admins that call you a hacker after you get a double 5-man feed. But from the other perspective you get into a game a lot faster though dedi but that again isnt the case since they tweaked matchmaking so i happens very quickly.

Wouldn't that require implementing filters as I said earlier, somewhere?
