It is. I'm currently in kashmir its a 15 day holiday from now on for schools. Govt officials are allowed to take a reserved leave for the time period. Ramdan usually lasts a month, but you can't drop school for 30days.

also, people are throwing rocks and there is sticks and stones warfare on the roads
