So this is probably a stupid question, but I'm pretty confused, I haven't started up IW4M in like 5 months, but today, just for the heck of it, i decided to load it up, and i find my friend list like this -

 

I know everyone on the list in one way or another, but i have no recollection whatsoever about adding the guys or even confirming the requests. So am i missing something painfully obvious here? I have like 3 people on my friend list.

That's not possible, I'm afraid. I have an exact number of 36 steam friends and 3 forum friends (out of the 3 forum friends, 2 don't play). The in-game list extends to more than 50 (i didn't bother counting after that, but it was a bit lower than the 1/2 mark of the entire list) and there were certainly even some people who I knew In-game with whom I never had any contact outside the game.

Woah, IW4M got so advanced that it automatically detects acquaintances that play IW4M!

Go to your UCP- click on Friends and foes - click on find member - give the name of the person - add him.

Do you have them on your Steam friends list? Also have you tried re-installing?

I have ToolBox, Ghosty and Sora on my Steam friends list, but the in-game list doesn't show them. On the other hand, there are quite a lot of people added who aren't in my steam list, or any list for that matter.

Sorry for the double post guys, but the problem is solved. Apparently i asked a few of my friends about this and they told me that they have added me, since they saw me on the forums (which is not surprising). Seems like the forums don't have a "confirmation" for adding people. Turns out I'm popular Not really, most people hate me . But anyways, thanks for your time.

That does not work..you will have to add friends thru steam.

How do you have these people added on the game?

This is my understanding of the system. When a player runs IW4M with steam running, it sends this info to the NPServer which adds you to the linker database. It then finds the Steam IDs of all your steam friends. If any of them are in the linker database, you are linked to them, and they are displayed in your in-game friendlist. Correct me if I'm wrong, NTA.
