[TUT] IW4M Dedicated Server: Linux

Featured Replies

Here's a quick tutorial for installing and setting up an IW4M Dedicated Server on Linux.

Common Issues:

- Not showing on serverlist: Unblock the iw4m & the net_port on your firewall

- Asking for credentials or something about 'Unable to create SP': Ensure you have start iw4m.exe with both '-dedicated' and '-console' in the command line

I probably forgot something.

Something to add: Dedicated servers must forward the TCP port as well as the UDP port.

TCP is used for the HTTP server, which handles downloading of custom server content.

Mh i've got trouble starting the iw4m.exe with wine on debian. The iw4m.dll couldn't be loaded, but the file exists in the same directory.

I used your tut to check if i had installed all dependencies.

But the problem seems to be another.

Any idea what am i doing wrong?

wich linux is best for this?

centos , debian or...?what you used in this tut?

Depends on, want to use it on big scale (lots of servers)?

I'd go for:

-CentOS 6 - different than this tutorial, go for Debian or Ubuntu.

- Debian

small personal scale?

- Ubuntu, definitely.
