Since there is no real statement/progress on LAN/offline-Multiplayer (which still is missing since BO)

i would like to throw sth into the circle.

I know you wont support the "real" matchmaking, because that would require an emulated IWNet (this evil crap from evil Ac71v1$10n i know".

But: on the one hand we got the awesome dedicated servers with countless possibilites and on the other hand we got a Matchmaking-lobby/local game-feature unused.

How about this feature. You guys should remove the whole authentication-stuff or implement a bypass with the following result:

Without login you can play with a local profile (ranking enabled like in IW4M1) which stats wont work with the online-profile (boosting impossible).

The local (offline) profile is able to play on locally created servers AND private matches.

The problem is the private match.

Matches require the IWNet. But if the developers could remove the authentication, the former "matchmaking" would become that, what he had last in WaW. A local game for the LAN-parties.

Problem solved, game perfect.

Please guys do us this favor. It would be awesome!

And like Toyota stated: Nothing is impossible.

EDIT: A namechanger for LAN-parties would be fine though..

There are "other options" to run IW5 offline. Although not with scripts and so on...

Google a bit about it.

You know i did not mean the SP-option ;)

And i do not trust Teknogods if you meant them..

i googled different terms, no profit..

Actually not a bad idea..

You donВґt say ? :D

LetВґs see how the community and most important the developers react to it..

Well since about 5% of people would actually use this, go figure.

because 95% of the players are little 14 year old fags who dont know what LAN is ?

well, that wouldnВґt be any news for CoD tbh.

Todays kids want everything for free. and let me guess.. how many members from here are russian or likewise third-country ? cant afford shit ?

this game lacks of LAN. Still! NTA made it possible for IW4M and i really appreciate it, because since then i was able to cut MW 2 off of Steam and play it normally. NORMAL like good old days WITHOUT internet!

It might seem ''not bad at all'' to you, but on the other hand it might be shit for others. I personally never liked LAN. I mean why LAN, if you have Internet...but still, it's up to NTA. And also what Paulofonta said... And please, don't be so ''I'm so smart, I made a topic about LAN hurr durr'' don't be so, I LOVE MYSELF kind of guy, it makes you look ''stupid'' :/

the topic title stating 'playing at home' - what is this, 2003? don't you have high-speed internet at home?

Todays games should offer both options. LAN and online. Like every Valve-game from today does. Even today they offer it.

I play online too. But its tiresome playing only with people you dont know.

oh, they do? weird, I'm sure csgo doesn't/doesn't properly.

But its tiresome playing only with people you dont know.

and isn't it possible to play 'with people you know' both online and through the internet and locally using the same internet connection for authorization?

But then i could continue playing on Steam. What makes the difference between your project and Steam then ?

Be better. Improve the game. Old IW4M was the best example. Those who wanted to play online used their forum account, those who didnt want to played with bots offline or somewhere else.

Furthermore its not that easy to get proper internet connection to any place where you gather your people to play.

I know the project IW5M is still young, but could you think about it on your roadmap ?.. Please ?

Completely agree...

proper dedicated server support

Be better. Improve the game.

which is already done

which was a terrible kludge of hackery in the end, and is the only reason people like arev could ship the aiw client

no? homes (which are stated in this topic) could use 802.11 bridges/homeplug to provide internet connectivity to any room, external locations (which this topic isn't even about) could possibly use a 3G gateway with restrictive firewall to prevent excess data usage (though this method would be odd as it is not a common usecase)

I know the project IW5M is still young, but could you think about it on your roadmap ?.. Please ?

again, it's not a high priority to do such, and dedicated server connection actually requires a centralized master to route DW IMs. in addition, the DW STUN servers may be needed, which is impossible to test locally for me as I'm not going to use shitty application firewalls hooking my network stack.

They're not needed. I was forced to do that test once (and then repeated the test a couple of times :P )

Although those tests were conducted with T5, not IW5 (but it shouldn't be that different)

Meaning that yes, I ran T5 ranked dedis (with people playing on them) without internet connection available, only using a DW server.

But to be honest, I could never think of a way to allow LAN usage without exposing the system to exploits such as bypasses for cheaters. So, I just gave up on the idea of people running IW5M on LAN.
