Hi, this is happening since about a month, starting from after noon, when I try to join a server, I get stuck at setting up game, while in the morning I can join any server normally, now I was trying to connect to different servers as always, I noticed that when I join a server starting with a green ( * ) in it's name (I think that means the server is running using the AlterRev project) it just connects so fast to these servers, setting up game only stays for about 1 sec or less after the map finishes loading, I tired about 10 servers like that and they all connect so fast in all maps, while on servers not starting with green ( * ) it keeps stucking at setting up game as usual, so please can anyone tell me why is this happening???

I just wanna solve this problem, if I edit my last post every time then no one is gonna see it or pay attention to it

Could any admin or tech support guy that knows what he's doning read the last few posts and tell me if this problem can be solved or not, coz I really wanna play and I can't do anything till I know whether this problem is solvable or not

... this is an issue that has been known to (usually infrequently) happen on servers not using precached configstrings - like any 159-based IW4M build, and any servers running DLC2 maps. I haven't ever experienced a case where this happens persistently - although it's weird how IW did not add this data for DLC2 maps seeing as that is another scenario in which this error can and will occur, even on the unmodified game version.

So is it possible that those external circumstances are related to any game files? although I'm using those same files and the same game since alterIW (I downloaded it from the links that were provided at that site at that time) and didn't have this problem till about a month ago or so.

So anyone got an update for this problem? I understood from NT that this problem normally occur in a very small percentage, but there might be something triggering it and making it occur all the time for me, so could those be related to any game files or to what exaclty?

I have exactly the same problem and opened 2 threads since 2 months ago but no result.

This problem occures on both alterrev and 4d1 servers.

Anyway, I've only seen that problem happening on messed up hard drives. Usually, preloading the map (like starting a private match or something on that map) and then joining a server with that map use to fix the problem.

"System File Cache" may be the answer for your problems. Google a bit about System File Cache, then know what it happens when the cache exceeds the available resorces on the most used windows operating systems, and learn how an Hard Drive can become messed up.

 

When I translate this to practical language, people think it doesn't make sense. So now I tell people to google about it.

I don't think that that's the case for me, first coz I have good specs on my laptop, second, coz this problem doesn't happen from dawn till afternoon or near evening, but from evening till dawn this problem happens in all servers except the ones that start with green (*) in their name

Doubt there is a official fix or a actual working one..

sorry to jump in on the convo.. but i am having the same problem.

Doesn't matter what time of day it is or the server.. but I didn't notice the green * .. i will try that when i am done posting.

But it seem to me that the game is trying to connect or setup game too fast. before the map is done loading. Call Of Duty 4 and other COD games that did have servers and not that crap lobby system. would load the map. when it would show setting up game. waiting for players and boom your in.

(on this it is setting up game before the load bar even moves)

I know it seems to get stuck on setting up game.. but i have waited it out.. and it does connect after a min or so. but its just odd. sometimes if you sit and wait for over 2 mins and it still is setting up game it will timeout and boot ya out of the loading screen.

At times it connects right away no problem, but that is less common to me then having to sit for almost a min to get into game.

(i get at times when I first load iw4m that its connected to the server. but it gets stuck on updating stats/rank or something like that. and the only thing i can do it open the console and use /quit because the cancel buttom will not do anything.. may happen a couple of times in a row but not always.. most of the time when i /quit and reopen it all good. it may not be related but thought it maybe something to look into.

One last note i seen parts about maps above. I didn't download any of the extra maps. when I am connecting to these servers it always the stock MW2 maps
