Your opinion on Free-To-Play Games.

Personally, I'd like to think, some game will live by being F2P while some dies. For example, there's Batman Impostors, there's not much people playing it back when it was pay to play. The game seems fine now because it's free-to-play. It gets more people playing. Just hope it won't dies out.

A perfect example of a great f2p game is Planetside 2 for me its one of the best games overal in the year, and it probaby wont die for years.

But most of the other FP2 games suck cause they copy to much from games like BF,CS, and the popular FPS series.

the only f2p games that i play now are sony ones(ps2, dcu) or games where you have to buy them only once(guild wars 2). most f2p shooters and rpgs are so awful now, just cause its usually a pay to win, or even if its not, the company usually only updates the cash shop with useless junk instead of fixing/updating the game.

f2p [..] where you have to buy them only once

how is that free-to-play?

i had a feeling some one was going to say that.....i was mainly directing this at mmorpgs. i know its not true f2p, but would you rather pay $40 or $60 once for a better quality mmorpg? or pay to play, or play a free game that is terribly unbalanced or has no content

tf2 is an example to a f2p game done right.

it isn't pay2win, people don't additional buffs because they pay. however, they can get weapons (that everyone else can also get, but through the luck drops system) quicker, and as such it allows Valve to make money of it but doesn't unbalance it as they can get it, just slower.

and hats. they are purely cosmetic, and yet they are so addictive provides so much income for Valve, yet do not un-balance the game.

f2p games that involve paying to get weapons no-one else can get, and these weapons are way too-powerful, is what i would consider pay2win. and those games don't work imo.

F2P works great on MMORPGs. Because most of the time you can't use money to get yourself shitty overpowered without using any time in the game. Well, you can do that, but you'll have to pay more than what you would want to.

I think the best F2P MMORPG is LOTRO (google it). Mostly because there's NO possibility of being angry at other players of being overpowered, just being jealous. Only thing you're mad at, is the devs, because 90% of the game is PvE, although PvMP is available to F2P players now on the MP side. Also, PvMP is only for specially interested, you have to dedicate all your hours of gaming to that, because they included something that just excluded PvE players.

F2P doesn't work on most FPS's. Most of the time because it's possible to buy weapons for almost NO money, and with weapons come unbalanced gameplay and with unbalanced gameplay means pay 2 win. Because you pay to have the advantage. Although, some games like Blacklight: Retribution didn't have that problem, since you could get nice upgrades relatively quick and the stuff you had was holding up towards other weapons.

For an example of shitty FPS, you got both BF:P4F and BF:H, both known for being pay 2 win games. And the big issue with them both, they're SUPER laggy. The servers on them are so fucking rubbish, even Halo's P2P system is better. It's ridiculous.

Oh and TF2 = best F2P ever. ever.

LOTRO is a good game into which I invested allot of my free time. On the other hand I agree that BF:P4F was ruined by EA and is one of the bigest pay2win games out there, along with crossfire, CA, Warrock, and many more...

TF2 is also a great F2P, the best one if you would have asked me 1 week ago. But now I fell in love with Planetside 2 :)

All the Free2Play games are bad, expect a few like Team Fortress 2. In that games all the premium content is visual only, they make your character look better but they don't really affect the game.

In other games like Battlefield Heroes or Crossfire free users are screwed. People that pay money can buy armor and other covers that make you way stronger and you can also buy stronger weapons with more bullets and less reload times. But beside that, they are really expensive too. In Crossfire you have a capsule machine, that's the only way to buy weapon. That means it is based on luck what you win, some people spend over 50 up to 100$ and didn't win anything.

The other thing is everybody can play them because they are free. Every 8-12 year old kid can just download them and start playing, with means all the servers are filled with little kids that call everybody a cheater and total suck.

There are also way more cheaters on free2play games, cheaters can just create new accounts, in pay2play games they would have to re buy the whole game.

Pay2Play games are by far the best. In games like Serious Sam or Payday you rarely see any noobs, once you played them you don't want to go back to games like cracked modern warfare.

F2P games are good for one reason. Friends who aren't hardcore gamers or don't have money to pay for games can play with you... For instance, only few of my friends play cod but none of them bought BO2. Now, I have the full game but I don't have anybody to play it with... and playing games alone definitely sucks.

you guys do know that tf2 was not a "f2p"......and it never had the cash shop

Was not, however now it is. And it's a damn good one.

And it never had a cash shop. Yes, it didn't, but it does now, the Mann Co Store.

It also shows you how Valve is always improving. Most games barely change over their lifetime. This one did. And it still continues on changing.

Free to play games can be fun sometimes, it really depends.

As long as it's not loaded with hackers and such, and not pay to win (which is what happens with most FPS).

But as people have stated, Team Fortress 2 is a great example of a good F2P. I play it myself, not a whole lot, but I do play it occasionally. It's by far a great game.

The fact that it's free-to-play is a plus, and I can run it on my laptop well too.

I remember playing Blacklight Retribution, which at first seemed somewhat like a pay-to-win as the way you could just buy games. The weapons seemed to be very balanced though, I remember playing my first game (and the last game I played as well) with the stock assault rifle (with I believe a different magazine for faster reload or something) and I would do better than the higher ranked people when I was only rank 5.

But I haven't played it in a while nor would I be aware if they screwed that up, I heard from someone it's pretty much pay to win now, but some of my friends are 'quick' to say that, so I don't really know.

Aside from that I don't really play any free to play games. They can either be really good (balanced), or really bad (pay-to-win).
