I often get this annoying problem where my ping regularly jumps up to 999, stays like that for a few moments and then drops back to normal. Once it starts, it continually happens throughout the game. Usually my ping is quite reasonable, but when these spikes happen, I loose control over the game and can't play. There is nothing else consuming my bandwidth when i'm playing online. Is there a fix for this?

Yeah, I used get it in alterIWnet before but the solution then was to set 'enable_upload' to 0 in the iw4mp.cfg file and that worked. There's no such config file in 4d1.

I have the same issue it's really pissing me off. When I go to spec people There appear to be fine but as soon as I start playing I warp everywhere

He said other multiplayer games works fine means the problem in not with his isp. I get this problem too. But it's because of my isp. I get a constant ping after 8pm.

It's not my ISP. I can get a reasonable enough ping on every other multiplayer game, and sometimes it's OK on 4D1 too, but I frequently get these 999 ping spikes and it's only in 4D1. The same thing used to happen to me in alterIWnet but, as I mentioned earlier, I was able to fix it then by setting "enable_upload" to zero in the iw4mp.cfg file. I can't do that here because there's no such .cfg file.

It used to happen to me. Then I got a better internet connection and it has never happened since. :/

I would like to see a screenshot of your lagometer while your ping jumps to 999. You can enable the lagometer with the command: "cg_drawlagometer 1"

I have the exact same problem. Every 5 minutes my ping jumps to 999 and goes back to normal again after about 1 minute. But i recently noticed something weird. While my ping was going up to 999 i tabbed out of the game by accident. As i tabbed in again after about 1 sec on the desktop my ping was normal again. So tabbing out and in again solved the problem in 5 seconds. But after 5 minutes the same thing.. ping going up again :/

I have the same problem but my Hamachi network card is off
