Hi everone!

 

I didn't want to download the whole skidrow version of mw2 and wanted to keep only the files that were necessary for multiplayer. So first I used the Alteriw installation files from torrent. Then, since I got problems I deleted the whole folder and copy pasted mw2 steam multiplayer folder and installed 4d1 over it. It works, but I get that strange error message while playing.

 

Console: The remote name could not be resolved: 'alteriw.net'

 

I checked to see if something older remained from alteriw but couldn't find anything.

 

So, does anyone know what this error is and if it was a problem?

It's not you. It's the servers fault..

Err, it is his, as alteriw.net is probably from iw4mp.cfg or iw4mp.ini I believe

No.. it's server it says "Console" = Dedi server *no duh*. It really poses not impact on the server or the client.

You can see it in many of the aRev servers.

aRev servers will try to connect to the ip in your alterIWnet.ini as they need a master-server.

It's caused by old dedicated aIW servers (that were 'upgraded' to 4D1 aRevolcrap) with the dedi update notify plugin dll left in the folder, when it should be deleted. It's nothing on your end.

@ Sora3100: I don't have any iw4mp.cfg or iw4mp.ini files in the installation folder or its subfolders. Is it located there?
