You do realize that Fate/Zero was released in 2011 detailing the events about what happened before the war which was portrayed in Fate/Stay night. So while Fate/Zero is the prequel, you still have to watch Fate/Stay night before.

Depends on whether he wants to watch it in chronological order or not, F/SN aired in 2006 and F/Z in 2011/2012. If he wants to watch it in chronological order, he should watch F/Z first.

Hi, and welcome to this thread. You can find the anime you are looking for, by taking a look at our animelists (the first post in this thread should have all the links) and then comparing them by genres. However, I would personally suggest a few.

 

Fate/Zero - Awesome series, can be watched without having to watch Fate/Stay night and is an action/adventure genre. I don't know what makes it so great, but its on the top of my list.

 

Another - Another beautiful series, made for horror fans and has a gripping plot and interesting characters.

 

Clannad and Clannad ~After Story~ - It might appear as a "moe" series at first sight, but believe me, this series has made me cry enough times for me to remember it. The storyline is just a lovely story of love, fun and life. The "life" part making me motivated enough to study work for my future.

 

Angel Beats! - A story which lacks nothing, nothing at all. Its action, comedy, emotional, horror, sci-fi everything at once. One moment its so funny that you rewatch the scene, the next moment you are in tears. A roller coaster ride.

 

Steins;Gate - A perfect little mindfuck with extreme humor.

 

Black Rock Shooter - A story which appears to just be a happy nice story, but then it takes a turn that will make you wonder as to what just hit the board. The story lacks in depth as the main conflict is "omg you were my friend yet you have more friends you no like me!1!" but the action and the overall awesomeness makes up for it in no time flat.

Ontopic(/lame excuse for posting): I feel like I need some new animes to watch/waste time on, or some good manga. Preferably with some action, fantasy things would be great. Excessive gore such as Elfen Lied, is a no-no.

 

Also, no extreme thingies. For quick reference, I like; Hellsing, Devil May Cry, Chrono Crusade, Demon Diary/Diary of a Demon King. (Naruto and Bleach isn't worth mentioning.)

Kara no Kyoukai is decent, but it doesn't really cover the ''fantasy'' requirement.

You could try Sword Art Online, which is about a video game, but does cover both the ''action'' and ''fantasy'' requirement. It's still airing.

Shakugan no Shana, it contains drama and romance as well. The first two seasons are worth watching, the third one is disappointing.

Stains;Gate, it doesn't contain any action or fantasy, but it's worth watching.

Yumekui Merry, nothing really to tell about it, except that it covers both the ''action'' and ''fantasy'' requirements.

And Fate/Stay Night.
