Hey guys,

here is my port of the map airport, known from the Singleplayer Mission, "No Russian!".

It is not related at all to this topic: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7804

 

I did mine completely from scratch and I am working on it for almost two weeks now.

This release is fully playable in most of the gamemodes.

It includes:

 

- An entity file based on the stock singleplayer entity file! This means, unlike the "port" mentioned above, this is not a file with two spawnpoints, but all destructible content of the map and evelevators and stuff (no you cannot use them). No bugs like disappering TV's when you shoot them!

 

- Working Departure Signs. Their status is random at map launch and over time, they do all change to DELAYED.

 

- Entities that block non-playable parts of the map. The playable area in this port is meant to be the whole indoor part of the Airport itself, nothing more, so you cannot just walk out of the map.

 

- about 10 to 15 quality spawnpoints, means not in the middle of the floor, where you get shoot immediently, exact count depending on the gametype.

 

 

 

Although nearly everything is working, I consider this as a beta, because of the following bugs:

- Killstreak Point are coded, but not tested, so they *may* not work as expected.

- Search and Destroy does work, however the bombs are not solid, I was not able to find the correct brushmodel for it.

- Sabotage, Demolition, Global Thermonuclear War and Headquarters are not working. They lack in missing flags and/or spawnpoints.

 

 

 

Since I am not sure, if I will have the time to finish this in near future, everybody is allowed to pickup this as a starting point to finish this map port and release, however please give credit, if you decide to do so.

 

 

I am releasing this map in the mod format. So to use it, create a folder called mods in you mw2 folder, if it does not already exist. Extract the downloaded archive and place the Airport folder into your mods folder. To play it, load Airport in your in-game mod menu and type "devmap airport" or "map airport" in your console.

If you want to use this in a private match make sure everybody has loaded the mod and type "ui_mapname airport" in the console before hosting the private match. As a server owner you can also load this mod and simply add airport to your map rotation.

 

@Devs for some reason my loading screen is not showing off, if you load the maps files via a mod, I guess this is a bug, just wanted to let you know.

No, I mean total.

This part of the map is small and it should really not be played with more then 8 or maximum of 10 players in my opinion at all. In fact I also discontinued this map, because I think it is not really suited for (large scale) multiplayer. I have much fun with it on lan parties with about 4 to 8 people, but that is enough. You cannot really put more spawns and players on that map without it getting crowded, mostly because the map is only one single long way. That is why I do not care really about the rest of the game modes, they do not make much sense either.

 

If you think, you know, how to make it better with more players and spawns, go ahead! I am serious, because I have no idea, how to do so. I just wanted to release it, because maybe some players may use it for private matches or are interested in it anyways and I also because I have spend a not too small amount of time on porting this map.

 

But I guess, if you want a real mp map, you should just play Terminal...

When I do the "devmap terminal" It just goes to a black screen and and back within a second, I have placed it in the mods folder.

Any suggestions?

 

Load the mod (mod menu in the main menu) and type "devmap airport"!

Fix spawns man.. especially SnD Attackers are WAY too close to the bomb locations. Push the bombs further back.

 

Yeah, I got the feeling that you mixed up the defender and attacker spawns... Attackers spawn close to the bombs, while defenders far from them.

Never thought, this would be something people would use anyway and now I get gameplay videos and find topics about installation tutorials for this.

Do you have a hint for me, where I can find a brushmodel for that S&D Bombs, that works on this map?

I tried to copy the model from the mp_terminal.d3dbsp.ents.

It really bugs me, that they are not solid.

Maybe I should go on finishing that map anyway...

Had the same problem as you, even before you released the map... :/ I couldn't find a good brushmodel either, even though I tried tons of them...

Exactly. I dont care.

Well damn.. then I will try to continue this if I can.. just mainly fix the spawns and see if it's possible to add other areas for a more playable gameplay.
