Just a little input, that might be off-topic, on the recent issues. Around the end of last year, I -- after all kinds of issues that caused my thoughts to get more unstable, partly caused by the project -- actually posted a statement in the staff forum, and stated I'd pretty much be resigning -- or at least, taking a break. Even though no motivation existed to develop BO stuff (I don't like that game, and aO would add no value to it at all, except for piracy -- if I didn't get that game legitimately on Steam I wouldn't have known I didn't like it) at that point, I was still (up until a day before posting that topic) working on a huge update for aIW -- even though I wasn't playing CoD anymore -- there still were some huge things planned for both the client code as well as the server code.
A few days later (pretty much calmed down from the entire issue), I noticed some issue on the forums, that'd have required administrator rights to fix -- and as I was the only person with consistent availability (nobody else was available at that time), but my rights were removed, I couldn't fix it. Then, I noticed the database password hadn't changed, re-added permissions, made that change, and changed my default group -- as being on IRC with only voice rights seemed to have fixed the part of people thinking I'm the person to go to for everything, I really wanted to remove the public image that I'm such a person, so maybe I could finally focus on proper development of the code, while still keeping control over internal decisions.
Then, 2 days ago, in the morning, some stuff happened on IRC (where I'd normally dish out temporary kickbans to people to at least make me not mess up more, though in this case that'd not be possible due to a) me still not knowing what the discussion was all about (MD and jerbob92 playing some weird joke on AnubArack, with all other staff available there knowing what happened -- and me not) and
them being identified with ChanServ, one of them even being registered as 'channel founder', others being on the SOP list, and having exempts set -- the complexity of banning people (.owner, /mode +e, /mode -e [mask], .aop del name, .kb name, /unban [mask], .aop add name, .deowner), even temporarily, for something they'd circumvent in 20 seconds to restart that same discussion all over again, making the ban ineffective decided me to even not bother doing such a kickban and c) people going all rage after such a temporary kickban), causing me to have a set of complex thoughts (which haven't gotten any better since I was kicked from the project, in fact, I've been feeling sick for 2 days because of that -- thanks very much), leading to finding something out that would be important to fixing my real-life situation.
After trying to tell my parents about that idea failed (and caused anger/rage from both sides, as they seemingly thought me hitting a door was more important than me knowing how to fix everything), I tried to calm down, though after starting my PC again, I was immediately greeted with some people whining to me about aIW. As such, I decided to delete my forum account (note that I hadn't been on IRC at that time at all) using a temporary account (note that I didn't delete any posts) -- and then go on IRC using qwebirc with another nickname ('NoLongerRegistered'), and ask about 'why is nta no longer registered'. The plan was to, after I got an answer, re-add my account data (which I backed up beforehand) in the database manually, and just continue on with the day normally.
Instead, MaxDamage decided to '.kb nolongerregistered stop trolling, NTA', and (though I might've forgotten the exact order of events) I responded by mass-moving a few topics in the announcements/information forum to a temporary (hidden) forum -- yet another thing that'd be very easy to restore, and would have no permanent effect. In the meantime, MD deleted my temporary account, and banned most of my IRC accounts as well, effectively removing all my access to even speak, and left, leaving a note 'if anyone sees NTA again, ban him, if you don't/unban him, expect to follow him' -- and posted an announcement requesting for new developers. An hour later, I was still not over the entire issue, and decided to rename (note again, not delete) the forum sessions table, leaving the forums with an error. I also wanted to set the 'administrator' flag for a few accounts, but knew that'd be a lot harder to restore.
Anyway, an hour or so later (where I was normally participating in IRC discussions using another nick), jerbob92 appeared, and people whined to him about restoring the forums. As he apparently was pretty much exhausted from some stuff he had been doing prior to that, he (reluctantly) fixed that, and then went on a rant towards me on IRC, which eventually ended in my final account (where I was already using a VPN) getting kicked -- and as the channel was moderated, and that was my last account with 'voice' rights, I had completely lost any and all power over the project at that point in time, and any means to talk with anyone involved. I completely lost it at that point, got semi-angry, and went downstairs to try talking about the issue with my parents. They -- again -- only noticed me hitting some inanimate objects, and whined about that, instead of noticing I was trying to sit down, in between crying and being completely angry, they started an all-out war, nobody caring about that actual issue -- again. 2 hours (and a few kicks in the fact by my stepfather) later, I finally went upstairs again, back to my computer, and trying to forget about aIW.
Eventually, Blitz contacted me, with the following IRC log (slightly redacted) occurring:
Once MD appeared, he likely was all against the ideas to just forget about it, and re-added the original announcement, started writing on a new one (containing outright lies), and eventually banned another IRC account I discovered I still had, in the meantime messing up the entire channel access lists on the IRC channel.
(note: yes, I like seeing 'issues' by trying to fake being an outside person -- at times I don't like how I started out with being on the 'inside' of everything -- sadly people have gotten paranoid because of that and actually think anyone with my ISP is me. :/ also, this post took me 40 minutes to write -- hope it was worth it.)
