Protect my config settings

Опубликовано:

Hi!

Is that possible to protect my config settings, ex. I join to iSnipe server and dvars change my FPS limit to 0 and hide my FPS counter, thats a bit annoying because with limit 0 it allows my PC to render 500-600 FPS which causes in GPU overheat, Is that possible to make it unable to change by server dvars?

/Sorry for weak english

Go to /modern warfare 2/players/ and make a copy of config_m2.cfg (e.g. call it config_m2_backup.cfg)

Then, when your config gets messed up, rename your backup to config_m2.cfg.

Rinse, repeat.

I meant, each time i spawn on iSnipe servers, the FPS limit set to 0, like i have to use com_maxfps 125 all the time i spawn again and again, that makes my GPU overheat, Is that just possible to disable this dvar changeing my fps limit?

Unfortunately not. It's frustrating, I know.

Try to make the config_mw2 file read only.

In your players folder, go to the config_m2.cfg properties and in the attributes option set Read-only.

Hope that has helped you.

If this works tell us, I would like to know if that works.

Theres a reason there is such a property

Wouldn't running MW2 as Admin over-write that property? (I run mine as Admin).

Why?

I don't know. I thought things like read-only are bypasses by processes that are run as Admin.

Sorry, that was a bit brief, check the post now.

It will protect your config_m2.cfg, so that it doesnt get changed (Couldn't write config_m2.cfg in console). But it will still set your com_maxfps to 0 and cg_drawfps to 0 temporarily. So you will still have to reset com_maxfps to 125 everytime you spawn...blame the modder. ;)

See, you guys saying that it has to work. And it didn't

And your happy about that?

We just try to help people.

No lol, I'm trying to help too.

Anyway back on-topic, it looks like it's not possible, but at least we know that your config won't be changed permanently :)

JoeyB":2eqcmmqe]bind w "+forward;com_maxfps 125;cg_drawfps 1"

Cba to make that kind of bind because i use toggle com_maxfps 125 250 333 for X, so...

Also cg_Drawfps 1 binded to W doesnt works after dvar set to 0

Just make a copy of the config_m2 and then place it into the main folder and rename it to something like 'Restore.cfg' or something like that ans whenever you join the sever just execute the cfg by /exec restore.cfg or whatever you called it

Get notepad++, open iw4m.exe and search for com_maxfps (with ctrl + f), change the com to con or something else the same amount of characters, e.g zzz 123, w.e you can remember. Then the command won't be changeable at all (by mods). You might want to make a backup before you do this though because if you type anything longer than the default amount of characters in the .exe it won't work ;o...

if you can't figure out what the fuck I just said then try licking your GPU instead

sarcasm intended
