IW5M: Common Errors/Fixes/Solutions

 

 

 

 

 

1. Could not reach the iw5.prod.fourdeltaone.net server. Error code from CURL: XX

a. Your connection to the internet is broken.

b. The IW5M server MAY be down. Try again later.

c. Check your firewall/antivirus program.

 

2. I get a "Couldn't load image 'loadscreen_mp_*mapname*'"

If you have not downloaded the DLC, go into the IW5M client, and click the 'New Store' button. It will open up a web-page, and you can click on any of the images to start a download. Use any modern torrent client, like uTorrent to download it. Then click on the .iw5dlc file that will be in the folder you downloaded the DLC to, and it will automatically install the DLC into your IW5M folder.

If the error is related to a normal MW3 map, then you may have to re-download/verify the game files. If you have the legitimate game on Steam, simply Verify the Game Cache.

If you do not own the legitimate game, follow the instructions on this thread at number #37.

 

3. I don't have a crosshair in-game

Open "players2\config_mp.cfg", with Notepad++ (or notepad your choice), and search for:

 set cg_drawcrosshair 0 

change it to:

 set cg_drawcrosshair 1 

or if you still have issues try

 seta ui_drawCrosshair "1"

 

Or type in the IW5M console

cg_drawcrosshair 1

or

ui_drawcrosshair 1

 

4. My game doesn't start when I launch it

Make sure you're running LaunchIW5M.exe as Administrator. And if that doesn't work then make sure you have .NET Framework 3.0, 4.0, and 4.0 extended installed.

 

5. My current version XXX has expired.

Delete caches.xml and start up LaunchIW5M.exe

 

6. Where can I get DLC maps?

If you have not downloaded the DLC, go into the IW5M client, and click the 'New Store' button. It will open up a web-page, and you can click on any of the images to start a download. Use any modern torrent client, like uTorrent to download it. Then click on the .iw5dlc file that will be in the folder you downloaded the DLC to, and it will automatically install the DLC into your IW5M folder. For the free DLC's, like Terminal, you can download them with the game using the DSUT, with instructions in number 37. .

 

You can also get them legitimately from Steam.

Make sure to put the fastfiles/.ff files inside zone\dlc and the .iwd's into \main\

 

7. I can't connect to matchmaking!

There is no matchmaking in IW5M.

 

8. Invalid .IWD's Referenced, Impure Client Detected!

Either YOU are missing some DLC .iwd's or the server is missing it. Or you have tampered with some important files inside your .iwd's redownload your entire main folder or the one you messed with.

 

9. Could not load FileSysCheck.cfg

Redownload iw_00.iwd

 

10. I'm stuck at 'Connecting to online services."

a. Server may be down or you can't connect to the NP server/not allowed to connect. Make sure to be running the LATEST MW3 files from Steam.

b. Port 3074 is being blocked. Open exception rules for port 3074 UDP on whatever firewall that might be blocking it (either windows, anti-virus or router firewall).

Opening ports on a Thomson TG series router can be a bit of a pain. You can find a video tutorial here -> viewtopic.php?f=30&t=24833

 

11. If you have problem where you can't create a new class or do private match and it looks somewhat like this picture .

Then you are using another language to play the game. The only supported language is English at this current time. You may download the conversion from here!

If you get this error when using the English version, delete caches.xml (present in your game folder) and launch the game again.

 

12. If you keep on getting a message saying "Player data corrupt please reset."

Then you can try deleting your entire players2 folder and starting your game again.

 

13. How to use dev console?

Use the key which is on the left to to 1/under ESC. (It should be either one of these keys: '~/`'. If it is not, then either you have a different keyboard type, or the key is wrong. Try it though.)

 

The console is VERY limited, but you can do some commands. Commands should be inputted like this:

cg_fov 90

.

Make sure '/' is not before the command.

 

14. patch_mp.ff is different from server.

Delete caches.xml and start LaunchIW5M.exe.

 

15. - Win XP Users - Can't login without password.

Create a file called IW5M.ini then open it and put in your username and pass.

16. When I start IW5M I get "The procedure entry point ?Lock@CThreadFastMutey@@ACEXII@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library tier0_s.dll."

Just delete caches.xml - if you have it - and start LaunchIW5M.exe. You're running a old revision of IW5M.

 

17. How to stop auto login?

Delete iw5m.ini, which will be present in your game folder.

 

18. I can't start SP/Spec Ops anymore!

Download and use this: clicky

We will not provide support for single-player or Spec Ops at this moment in time.

 

19. How do I change my IGN/username?

Easy, click this: ucp.php?i=profile&mode=reg_details and change it where it says ''username''

 

20. I can't alt+tab properly!

Start your game in ''Fullscreen Windowed(No Border).

 

21. Ping is high in the server list?

That's a known bug, and when you're in-game your ping is lower.

 

22. I can't load Vortex and U-Turn, why is that?

You can play them now, just remember to have the DLCs installed correctly (6. on how to install DLC)

 

23. Could not load image *imagename*

That has something to do with broken .iwd's. You might have to re-download your game. You can either do this either by verifying via Steam (if you have bought the game), or following the instructions on number #37 of this thread.

 

24. How can I change my FoV?

By using the console(mentioned above) and by typing in cg_fov xx (xx being from 65-90).

 

25. Killstreak is unbound?

You need to set it up in the options>controls>actions>killstreak slot.

 

26. I got kicked/banned by a server owner, what can I do?

We do not provide any such support for people who have been kicked and/or banned by a server owner. You will have to contact the server owner manually, via a website or some other method (private messages, steam, xfire etc).

 

27. My game is freezing.

Close Xfire in-game if you have it opened. Or check your ping (you can check this via the scoreboard)/fps (frames per second, you can use some external application like Fraps to monitor this).

 

28. How do I install, download IW5M?

29. I see cheaters!

We currently have a working anti-cheat that does get updated, however, no anti-cheat is 100% secure. Cheat Reports are disallowed, due to the fact they are unneeded, and the anti-cheat is much better at detecting cheating users compared to players.

 

30. I'm getting: Data Error By DBNUpdater.Updater. (CacheContentFile )

Move your whole game folder somewhere (out of Program Files at least), right click on the folder, properties, un-check read only and run LaunchIW5M.exe as an admin.

 

31. I get "connecting..." message and I can't connect to any servers!

Make sure the system time on your computer is synchronized with a time server - the clock on your computer and the dedicated server you're trying to connect to may not differ too much.

32. I can't chat on servers!

The server needs to update to the latest IW5M revision. Notify the server owners if you can, as the newer revisions not only contain functionality to 'talk' on servers, but much needed security fixes.

 

33. My controls/keys are messed up!

Either you're trying to cheat using an injected dll or you used a cheat command in console.

 

34. Map names?

Map names can be found HERE.

 

35. How to level hack?

Level-hacking/transferring stats is prohibited in IW5M. Do not even make servers that support level boosting (by having too much additional XP, etc). However, all users will be provided by 4x Weapon/Level XP, so that they can level up faster. If you do level hack/host boosting servers, you will get a ban from the IW5M service.

 

36. How to remove clan tag remnants (this: [])?

You can remove this by deleting the 'settings_c.zip.iw5', present in your /players2/ directory inside the folder you installed IW5M in.

 

37. How to download the MW3 Game files?

You can download the MW3 Game files using the HldsUpdateTool (Half Life Dedicated Server Update Tool), provided by Steam.

Install it.

Open up Command Prompt (Windows+R then cmd then click OK)

Change directory in CMD using the cd command. Either of the commands below will direct you to the right folder:

cd C:\Program Files\Valve\HLServer

OR

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\HLServer

 

Then launch Hldsupdatetool using the parameters below in CMD:

hldsupdatetool.exe -command update -game "modernwarfare3" -dir "D:\dir" 

replacing D:\dir with the directory of your choice.

 

Important note:

After running HldsUpdateTool, delete caches.xml from your game folder, to force IW5M updater to run again, and add some IW5M files that got replaced by HldsUpdateTool

 

38. I keep getting "Server Connection timed out" after joining every server

That happens often with crappy routers (such as Thomson TG series). The solution for it is to forward port 3074 UDP on the router (wich is not as easy as forwarding on any other router)

1. I can't connect to my own server!

Chances are the problem is on your side; Check your ports and firewall.

 

2. I get this error: Connecting to online services....

Here are some possible causes:

a. Your ports aren't open

b. You launched the server with incorrect parameters

c. The master server is offline

d. You haven't created a .dsx file in your MW3 folder, restart and try again.

e. You're not being able to use the required sockets. Open windows command prompt as administrator and use this command:

netsh winsock reset

 

3. Where can I download the server files?

You may use the Steam Modern Warfare 3 Dedicated Server to download all the newest files require to run a dedicated server. Or you can download the dsut.zip file given by 4D1 and run it.

 

4. How can I have DLC maps in the map rotation?

Edit default.dspl with Notepad++ or Notepad but Notepad++ is preferred.

You will find at the bottom *,TDEF_default,1

change the * to whatever map you want to always use such as mp_overwatch,TDEF_default,1

 

that will have Overwatch in the map rotation.

 

5. How can I change the game rotation?

Open default.dspl using a text editor and change the *,TDEF_default,1 line or anything that's in the MIDDLE of the map,GAMEMODE, weight to whatever you have in your admin folder. Eg. *,SND_default,1 will set the game mode as Search and Destroy when it is selected.

 

6. My server keeps crashing!

Try to find a mini dump of the crash and then send it to a Tech Support member.

 

7. DSUT crashes when open under Windows Server 2008!

Go to Server Manager > Features > Add Features > (expand .NET Framework 3.5.1 Features) > (check .NET Framework 3.5.1) > (click Install).

 

8. Getting a weird ScriptLoader error as of R27.

[scriptLoader] Assembly hod2, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null could not be loaded because of a loader exception: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'HUD.hud' from assembly 'hod2, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.

To fix it just recompile your script with the newer InfinityScript

 

9. People are spoofing the GUID of admins and banning people!

We know about this issue, and it should be fixed in the upcoming revision/s of the IW5M dedicated server.

For now, if you have B3, you can enable the login plugin in B3.

 

Now keep in mind that when you set the admin passwords on the database, it has to be saved as MD5 (on "function" type)

Then in chat type:

/!login [pass]

Make sure you use / before !login or someone will find out.
