hi,

 

today i bought modern warfare 2 on steam (yes, i really did) and thought everything in IW4M should work perfectly with a legit copy.

but my problem with the freeze after 5 seconds in the main menu still exists. i can't even switch to the console via alt+tab or taskmanger.

 

is it probably due to haveing a non english version of modern warfare 2?

i wanted to buy the english version, but it wasn't possible for me due to country restrictions of steam (the international version is banned in germany). the fact that i don't have a VPN atm didn't help either.

 

another thing i should mention:

i could never load the map "burgertown" in the old iw4m2 builds (if you remember those). some people said it's because of low amount of free ram. it always gave me an error message that i couldn't display too, because i couldn't switch to that window through alt+tab.

 

my system specs:

 

cpu: intel core 2 duo e6850 2x3ghz

gpu: nvidia geforce 8800gtx 768mb

mainboard: gigabyte intel p35 chipset

ram: 4x1gbyte ddr2-800

hdd: 1tb sata2 samsung 7200rpm 3,5"

os: windows 7 x64 ultimate sp1 with latest updates, directx9, .netframework 3.5 and more, various vc redistributable packs... etc

 

the steam version works fine though but is horrible.

 

try upnp_maxAttempts "0"

adding it to the config_mp.cfg, right?

It should be in there already, just edit the line

Just so you now and think that you wasted the money its not because you have a german version

Me r german 2 xD i can play fine never crashed or anything
