Killstreak Acquisition Sounds

I've noticed a long time ago that the killstreak aquisition sounds in MW3 are buggy since the new ones use other killstreak sounds or some from MW2, although the new killstreak sound files exist. So this is an example:

When you get a certain killstreak, you hear a specific sound that presents the corresponding killstreak, but many killstreaks use sounds that don't correspond to them, here are some:

I.M.S uses the Sentry Gun sound

AH-6 Overwatch uses the Harrier Strike sound (MW2)

Strafe Run uses the Harrier Strike sound (MW2)

Juggernaut uses the Pave Low sound (dissappointing, right?)

Osprey Gunner uses the Chopper Gunner sound (MW2).....

And more from both the assault and support strike packages.

So what I would like to suggest is that CAN this be fixed (maybe some later update), I know it doesn't make much sense but it would be a simple nice fix. Remember, it's not a mod nor a hack it's just a fix, the sound files are already in the game files.

You know I have looked in the IWDs, and found unused kill steak sounds for Juggernauts IMS etc etc. I wonder if NTA will fix this.

That's exactly what I meant.

Well in the fast files there are sounds like " mp_killsteak_Juggernaut ( something among those lines ) and when I play it a sound for Juggernaut comes out. I couldn't rename as it's not being used.

Yeah that's it, in some of the iwd files the new killstreak sounds are availabe but unused, I wonder if there is a possible way to assign each sound to its killstreak.

But with this the pave low and juggernaut will use the juggernaut sound, and before, the juggernaut and pave low used the pave low sound!

No that's not a total solution, we need each sound to it's corresponding killstreak. I hope NTA fixes it in a future update.

If we rename the Pavelow with the juggernaut sound then the we are back at where we started. The pavelow uses the Juggernaut sound. There are unsed files for killstreaks and renaming them wouldn't help at all. It would have to be fixed by doing something like assigning them to their own sound.

Exactly what I said before, we need NTA to assign the unused sound files for their killstreaks. It would be nice, I really get dissappointed when I hear the "attack helicopter" sound when I get the "reaper", for example.

Well, I think NTA must know if they are ACTUALLY assigned.

I am not familliar with such stuff.

oh wow, the only sounds that seem to be used in splashtable.csv are mp_killstreak_[radar/jet/heli/sentrygun]... the other ones do seem to exist as soundaliases btw

 

on another note, one field for the 'emp' splash contains 'achieve_tank' :)

Ok thanks for checking it, but is it possible to assign the unused ones?

If the right sound files exist on the IWDs, then it shouldn't be that hard (although a pain in the ass)

Yes of course they do exist in one of the IWDs. (want me to specify?)

What do you exactly mean by that?

Automatically search the string and replace.

But yeah, in wich IWD are those sound files, and what are their names?

would use excel though

My bad... used notepad++ :P

 

Edit: won't make much difference... 8-)

But ok, a couple of ctrl+f and it should be done.
