Because most of them are used to HC. They don't even bother playing softcore. Once again, those who think they're pro and fast and play HC, just shut it up. A softcore pro is good in both softcore and hardcore, while a hardcore pro is probably not good in softcore. Hardcore is all about the connection and who's to shoot first, while softcore is about who's faster and who's picked the right perks and guns and who's actually using the map.

I can't express how wrong people are playing HC. If they have fully experienced the game and then chose hardcore over softcore, then it's fine. but the point is they just haven't...

well actually the server browser do not filter out quite a lot of hardcore(=lowhealth) servers.

Agreed, a lot of people are still hosting modded low health softcore servers because on (that other place who think they are gods) you could not turn off the 10 second respawn delay. We only recently changed our server to "Proper Hardcore" and removed the plugins required to emulate hardcore.

I personally prefer hardcore and as others have already said if you don't like it, run your own.

Server owners spend their own time and money setting up a server the way they like it, then invite others to be a GUEST IN THEIR SERVER. Remember this.

Again, aiming is the key, after you have played a few softcore matches, you will have enough reactions to put two bullets in the head across a corner, all the while controlling the recoil. HC also negates the recoil since a single shot on target does the job. SC however grants you a better control over a weapon.

Camper_Pro, do you know how to aim? it takes 1-2 shots of a sniper rifle to kill, 1 shot at close range with a shotgun, 2-4 with a Assault rifle,2-3 with LMG 3-5 shots with smg's. unless you are using a pistol or any other secondary weapon that deals low to medium damage or spraying, i don't see how that is half a clip.

lolwut. So you are saying that just cause you are older (over 50 years at that) you have more experience with firearms and such? Firstly, I don't see how age is even relevant here. Secondly, what I said was completely right and I don't know what kind of defense equipment you used in Vietnam, but you don't kill in one shot anymore. Thridly, I do have first hand weapon experience, none of which included shooting other people of course, but shooting nevertheless. Of course it is impossible to tell which game mode is better. It's a personal preference..

 

What should be noted from this thread though, is that opinions differ greatly on the subject, which is why server admins should take care in putting a tag in the server name, that is easy to understand - you know, like HC for hard core, SC for soft core - and maybe RH for soft core games (with mini map etc.) with reduced health.

 

And the people who are saying, that one could just set up a filter in the server browser, obviously haven't tried it. Every server in the list is marked as soft core.

 

Maybe it would be cool if someone could ad some naming guidelines in the instructions for setting up a server.

 

Like:

 

SC = Soft Core

HC = Hard Core

RH = Reduced health

[weapons here] off: Eg. gl, launchers off = Grenade launchers and other launchers are disabled.

 

and so on and so forth. It would make it a lot easier for players to find a server they like. And server admins wouldn't see players connecting and disconnecting constantly trying to find a server, that meets their requirements.

Gotta love how people use their age to win the argument.

 

In hardcore, every weapon is damn the same. It takes absolutely no skill to kill the enemy there. The only thing that counts there is the amount of weapon's hip fire spread. Its fun to use akimbo to take people down across the map though. Call of duty is not meant to be realistic at all(otherwise us army would spend all their money to produce grenade launchers, lol.).

 

I still think hardcore was crap in cod2, and it still is. But yeah, personal preference.
