I smoke cookies.

JK I don't smoke. If you do I feel very sorry for you... it's killing you faster. So many health problems will arise from just smoking. Try to get out of it! Especially Ghosty

Skinny, fit and healthy, haven't had any diseases or anything in over a year now...

It's not like you will get lung cancer the next day.

I hope you will not have to regret that you smoke in the future.

I've been smoking for around a year or so, and I've been healthy during that time :P

Who said it was instant? It's gonna have a huge effect in your 30-50's. I would know because my dad is a smoker and yeah :|

Don't think I will keep on smoking for another 15 years though.

Right. Because smoking is something you can stop just like that

Right. Because smoking is something you can stop just like that

We all know you can't just snap out of it, but if you really put your mind to it you can stop. For example, if I really wanted to, I would stop smoking for 'set-date-of-time'. Then you can just shorten the number of packs you smoke and a the end you stop smoking. Or you buy yourself one of those electrical cigarettes.

Yeah, easy to write it down, a lot harder to do. You are going to have a bad time, no matter what.

The faster you quit, the better.

Finally somebody who got the point.

Also 30% ? Holy crap I thought the percentage would be approximately 10-15% these days. Teachers recently asked us some questions in class and we only had 3-4 people (of 30) that actually 'admitted' smoking and then there are the other ones that claim to be something like 'party-smokers', only smoking once or twice a week and such. But my view on that is quite radical: For me exist two types of these occasionally smokers: The one who actually are addicted and the ones who want to be addicted.

Don't take that offensive, I've nothing against smoking people, but those who claim to be absolute non smokers which they obviously aren't. Smoking doesn't really have a negativ influence while you are young, if you're smart enough you don't even start and if you're smart and strong you stop it asap. And if you're lucky you don't feel the consequences for the rest of your life. It would depress me somehow to know that I might have harmed my body for several years so hard that I might get cancer or some of the other deseases (the list is incredibly long of course). Guys trust me I've already been seriously diseased and I wouldn't ever do anything I have an influence on, that would make me see such many doctors again.

I think it should be : The ones who want to be addicted, and the others who Wont get addicted (that easily). The ones who do it occasionally, aren't addicted yet.

Now that "Wont get addicted" part is debatable (not disputable IMO).

They Wont get addicted because First, they are not putting themselves into that habit consciously. I have seen people, who are starters, who smoke not because their body is demanding it, but do it to in spare time; while waiting for someone, while walking, and likewise. This is dangerous because people are slowly adjusting their body to smoke. And after this, comes the part where The Body starts relishing the smoke, and falls into that viscious circle.

Second, I have also seen people, who have "Resistant-to-addiction", sort of tendency, and their body instead, fights back and does not "smoke-adjust" itself. These people are the ones who eventually become or are strict-non-smokers.

Yeah, easy to write it down, a lot harder to do. You are going to have a bad time, no matter what.

As they say, "It is always easier to get away from something, if you begin hating it" (goes with Souls too).

Where to Stop, is actually the part where-'n'-when a person starts getting certain warnings and hence SHOULD draw the line of hatred. However, 'Ignorantia juris non excusat'*. If you tend to ignore those signals, then :

either :

if you're lucky you don't feel the consequences for the rest of your life.

OR

It would depress me somehow to know that I might have harmed my body for several years so hard that I might get cancer or some of the other deseases (the list is incredibly long of course). You are lucky to get away from it, InTime. And the body started healing itself, the moment you Stopped it. So one would, in 6 months, recover totally from all its affects.

hmmm... dont 'hard-code' that 'set-time-of-date' (TOD) variable, you might have to change it quite often, this way ;)

It is how The_InHuman says:

Right. Because smoking is something you can stop just like that

It isn't something like that, BUT can ONLY be dealt with like that, even if one becomes a "load of dunk", the first day and has to resort to other alternatives.

Fact remains that you'll die eventually. I've seen the best and healthiest people die at the age of 40-50 and the worst smokers outlive their 90' s.

I still hope I will not make it past 60. But that is just my state of mind.

Why don't you try jumping off a tall building? Hey, it might kill you, but you will probably like the breeze on your way down.

Oh, and the "set-date-and-time"method doesn't really work. I have seen people in de-addiction wards in hospitals, and they have their hands and legs strapped to the bed and they are shouting like some deranged maniac, since they didn't get their "share".

Well, it's all about luck. You can't assume that YOU are the lucky one.

I like my lifestyle and every part of it. Too bad if I ain' t the lucky one, at least I did all the things I wanted to do.

I got a small things on a list with stuff I want to do before I die, I am happy to say there are just a few things left on that list. After that I couldn' t care less about what'll happen. So far I enjoyed every moment of my life and there are a lot of things worse then ending up dead.
