Hey all together. I remembered the old aiw times and remarked, that the aiw://connect/ protocol was removed due to whatever, so I thought I could code a new game launcher that reenables this protocol. But i modified it a bit.

To launch a server with the new protocol you have to type in your browser:

iw4m://connect/ip:port

An example html code would be:

Connect to the server!

and an example BBcode would be:

[url=iw4m://connect/server1.chris32.de]Connect to the server![/url]

-> Connect to the server!

 

At the moment, this has some bugs:

- iw4m:// protocol can't be used with firefox (chrome and IE work)

- iw4m:// protocol only works if you installed 4D1 using the official IW4M Client installer.

no, it just crashes. seems to be an error with the System.Net reference, or something like this.

well does not load the whole entire config_mp.cfg until you in the match.

For real? Dang, uhh, make a .cfg in /main/, put ' connect ip ' in it, save it, ingame /exec name.cfg and you should connect?

Wouldn't it be easier to just input the connect command, rather than creating the cfg to input exec command?

If you remember akbind, you could for example make a list of your favorite servers and then just connect to them with the press of a button (not creating cfgs and executing them)

Still, I would rather see this bit of code being proposed to NTAuthority than having people searching for updated versions of a modified dll all the time.

You can also add custom buttons in the mainmenu...
