I see there is a continuation of AlterIWnet's MW2 project. I have the legit Steam version of the game now, but I HATE the non-dedicated server game setup. It seems like dedicated servers are available through 4D1 now. However, I can't download the files probably because mediafire and dl.dropbox are blocked in my country. Is there a way I can access this but also be able to play with Steam (I have friends there)? I am level 70 too, and have unlocked everything except for some of the weapon skins and I love my stats, so will that be transferred along or will I have to start from scratch? Also, how many people utilize this? I live in China at the moment and AlterIWM4 had a lot of Chinese dedicated servers, so I had like 40 ping the whole time. I'm wondering if this is the case. Sorry, I couldn't find any topics concerning this, so I decided to post a topic to ask.

You'll have to start over from level one (unless you can use one the ways to level up that supposedly work (I couldn't get them too)). There's a fair amount of servers online (at least in na), there's just never anyone in them. :/

OP, which filesharing sites are UNblocked in China? I'm sure a member of our community will gladly help you.

For the paranoid, checksums can be found in the compiled files topic to check the integrity of the said downloaded files from a different hosting site.

Well, I'm pretty sure North Korea has no internet at all... Anyway, Dropbox shouldn't be unavailable in China. I use it here frequently... I know KickA** Torrents isn't blocked, and neither is Filehippo or Brothersoft. The first file downloads fine, but it took around 3-4 site reloads to get the download. The second and third files aren't working out very well. Also, I'm experiencing FPS reduction problems on Highrise, Estate, and Favela on the Steam version. The game was at 60 FPS when I used AlterIWnet's version on the same PC. Did the AlterIWM team improve the FPS?

There is a couple that are Polish, with no registration needed to download. Zer0w is aware of them.

 

We do not need stupid hosting places that are effected by US law.

Try uploaded.to. I don't know if it's blocked in China.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing on dedicated servers, but, like I posted in the original post, I'm worried that I won't be able to play on Steam (which has all my stats and friends) with IW4M installed. Any help?

Just copy your MW2 files. And place the IW4M files in your copy. So you should be able to play both
