A better question which requires physics, if you have average velocity which is 40m/s, and in 2 seconds the object change to 6m/s^2 find the displacement :)

How do you expect me to find the displacement when you have give me AVERAGE velocity of a time period "x". You should have given the initial velocity so we can calculate the acceleration and therefore the displacement ._.

Why would you just not give something like "How much distance will a car travel when it travels at 4m/s for 6 seconds?" that's a simple 4*6 equation framed like a word problem.

YAY I'm not the only person who knows physics here :D <3 I was hoping somebody would correct me ;)

You're a horrible scientist.

Also, why not have some easy random variable, aka 'Add 5 to the year of your birth' or so.

America, you know...

I like the Idea

That's better. Simple and effective. But make the adding value a random number (not always "5") so that the process can't be that easily automated.

and there's universal information sharing on the interwebs that allow us to magically know the birth year of every person registering?

Why not just compare their answers to the DOB they gave when applying for registration?

since when is there such a field?

People input their birthday in 3 fields. Day, month, year.

When the user clicks to submit his registration, the php script grabs the info on the year field, sums the suggested sum value and compares with the value on the answer field.

And it doesn't even need to be birthday. It can be just "tell us your age" field.

But entering your birthday isn't required for registration...

Neither any kind of calculation. We're discussing what might be implemented or not, in the future.

Oops, yes, I misread it.

and how would a human spammer not be taking the effort for a 4-second read/calculation, when they already have to perform the captcha?

Well, you can never stop a human spammer. You would have to prevent users from joining if you wanted to prevent human spammers.

Let's just focus on "digital bots".

There's no proof at all. But if we're sure that it all comes from human spammers, then this all conversation doesn't make sense.

If it's bots, we need some registration tweaking. If it's humans, then it's up to our gmods (maybe that's the conclusion you wanted someone else to take from this topic) :P

Hm, how about this:

Find the odd

for example: wheels, engine, chicken, doors

(answer is obviouisly chicken)

Not too hard, not too easy.

Again, that's a constant answer, you can easily get around that.

What I didnt mention is that every registration its a new combination of words.
