This does appear as a double post, but I had a nice idea after reading HankJW's post in the "banning cheaters permanently" thread. Its so that people will need posting rights before they are able to post anything on the forums, and staff will have to manually add posting permissions (which will be permanent from then on) before someone can post. Everyone will obviously have to state a reason as to why they want to post and that will make the spam stop. Also, since most of the forums members don't post, the amount of requests will be at a fairly low level.

Isn't XUID/GUID just the forum ID or so? So if you'd make a new account you'd evade that.

I am moderator in a CS forum, and we had the same problem, admin added a simple question which is to put the number in the middle of "1 2 3", it's simple and I think this is what stopped this spam bots.

We're starting to see a massive increase in pornographic content based spam. Now I don't know about you, but is the average age of the forum (which I'm garnering is about 13) really old enough to see this sort of shit? Just an idea, but there should be some sort of special function so that when you ban spam-bots specifically (with some sort of reason trigger, or different method of banning via some sort of plugin), it transfers all their posts to the Recycle Bin, so that Tech Support members can contribute more than simply just banning the damn things.

Seriously, in the last 20 minutes I banned 5 (or so) spammers. Some time ago I banned 2 in 1 month. So, yeah.

Since I'm not a Gmod nor a Tech Support, I only read the Spanish forum and never saw that amount of spammers.

note that 'posting links in their first posts' does not count - they'll just post 5-10 offtopic posts and then post their spam
