i Cant lunch iw5m if i lunch it i got a window error pop up and it says (directx encountered an unrecoverable error check the readme for possible solutions) yasterday it was working fine but now i get this error why

Edit: BTW, AFAIK, your card doesn't support above Directx10. So go with v.10 only.

Use Win+R to get Run command box. Type in dxdiag and press enter. What version of Directx you have? Check that dxdiag dialogue for more details or errors.

Then launch the game as admin.

Start with updating all your graphic card drivers, then reinstall the directx and try to run the game in windowed mode.

IW5 doesn't even use dx10 and dx11 so it won't really matter if he has it installed or not.

 

Directx 11 has backward compatibility. The default Win 7 DirectX installation may only have some DX9.0c libraries just for minimum compatability, so you'd need to update it to add the missing ones.

 

However, if the game requires some files from Directx 9 (when a program can't start because some d3dx9_34.dll is missing); you need to install Directx 9 separately, in that case.

 

And ofcourse, you cannot downgrade a Directx version
