the first point makes you seem like a BF fanboy

Of course we all know you're a popular FPS series fanboy yourself.

not even, I hate FPS games overall

First off, I hate BF3. Absolute disappointment of a game that tries way too hard to be like a popular FPS series.

sounds like you've played older BF games then - those which make as little sense as ARMA does.

EA fucked it just as much as Activi$ion has been doing with a popular FPS series lately. They dumbed it down so much they killed all the teamwork and coordination that BF2 had. And then there's BattleLog...

rush doesn't seem too horrible though, battlelog is better than the ingame server browser in at least BC2 and according to reports BF2 as well; you wind up used to it.

no other game provides such CQB maps as IW3/up.

Yes, the maps were always small, but the maps in BO and IW5 take it to the next level and make it shoebox sized. The side effect of this is they balance the weapons around this fact and make them bland compared to MW1/2, giving them all the same 3HKO ability at point blank and very narrow damage drop off bands.

maps are still mostly the same - varying sizes - though IW5's stock maps were messed up somehow by making them horribly narrow too, DLC seems to have less of this issue. weapon data, I noticed both T5/IW5 fucking that up under the sense of 'balance', yet people still complain about certain weapons 'being unbalanced'. I'd assume that to stop those people whining you'd have to make every weapon handle equally, and then the better-looking weapon (i.e. better iron sights? dunno) gets overused and there's new complaints about that.

TBH, other than IW4M and some spec ops survival, I don't bother with either franchise or any games put out by either publisher anymore.

MP games lately overall are just either a) too complicated or B) too messed up.

Well that might explain things then.

No idea what you mean by early BF games making "little sense". They were fairly straight forward and intuitive to grasp. BF2 had a squad and leadership system to enhance team cooperation and strategy. Higher rank players could become leaders and give commands. All that was gutted out and dumbed down in BC1/2 and BF3. Even player communication was crippled. The squad system in the newer games serve little purpose other than acting as mobile spawn points.

Arma is a military training simulator adapted for commercial release. It's ambitious nature makes it a very complex game with a steep learning curve though it's worthwhile if you have the patience to overcome it. The key is to think like a real soldier would.

Rush can be good, but some of the maps are pretty broken. They had all of the alpha and beta phase to fix Operation Metro but that map still remains complete horse shit. The lack of teamwork in pubs doesn't help either. Battlelog might have some good features but there is no valid reason why it couldn't be done ingame, other than serving as DRM.

The maps in BO/MW3 in general were noticeably smaller than previous. Some DLC did throwback to larger maps of yore, but the weapons weren't balanced for them, so sniper-wielding campers dominated.

MW3 weapons had some wobbly balance at release. Some of the weapons were made redundant by higher level unlocks (Dragunov vs RSASS, CM901 vs ACR 6.8, etc.), some were nerfed to the point of being useless for fear of them being over powered (MGs, shotguns, noobtubes, etc.), and some like the ACR showed obvious signs of favoritism from the developers.

Every weapon in MW2 was distinctive and unique in performance, each powerful in it's own way. Yeah some were overpowered, but then again, EVERY GUN IN THE GAME WAS OVERPOWERED. That's what made them awesome. That's why the weapons in the new games feel stale and weak. Instead of making all weapons handle the same, they could have made them more varied like MW2's arsenal but with Stopping Power built in so weapons like an AK could be 2-3HK while the M4A1 is 3-4 and wouldn't need a RoF nerf, but nyo-o-o...

Feeling the same about them too lately. Arma is really the only one that's complicated at all. Everything else is continually being dumbed down for greater crowd appeal.

Dunno, but I think grenade launchers were nerfed in a good way. It's a great weapon to finish people of who hide behind some cover, or to engage groups of enemies.

Shotguns? Damage and range proficiencies make shotguns stronger than ever

MGs? They are always a 3(m60 can kill in 2!) shot kill, silencer doesnt affect their range, they have big mags, but recoil is kinda high. Still, LMGs are very, very useful.

Oh and I often see people crying and saying m4 is overpowered, scar too. I mean, every weapon is good in situations where they should be used

Try the grip on any LMG on MW2. It has less recoil than an ACR. LMGs are made out of rape, they rape EVERYTHING, be it large groups of people, choppers, sentries, people behind a lot of cover, or ANYTHING. I find LMGs more suitable for taking down a pavelow than a stinger, primarily because it takes less time and the LMG still has more use than that.

It's not very useful for taking on groups unless they all cluster so close together that they are bumping into each other. The GL has a kill radius of about 4 feet in MW3 (maybe less). You almost have to hit them directly to score a kill. It's a bit more useable in hardcore though.

Note that you have to grind for hours just to get them. Those two perks shouldn't even be in the game. It makes no sense that they took out stopping power but leave in this crap anyway. And no, the shotguns in MW2 were still stronger and had better range, even before equipping Stopping Power. The Spas-12 in MW2 was a nearly unstoppable monster in CQB. The MW3 version is inconsistent at best.

That's how they are after the buff. They were mostly worthless (except for the MK.46) beyond close range at the game's release.

That's true, but I wasn't arguing that. My point is, the weapons are weaker than in previous games. Stopping Power is gone and they haven't fully compensated for it's removal. They do less damage at long range, have higher recoil, and slower fire rates in general. Overall, it makes the gunplay feel dull and unsatisfying.

You misses DJ Vahn.

I will play it no matter what. It's what I have done with the "Call of Duty" so far. Personally I don't really like or hate games. I just play what's playable and where my clan brings me. I really liked "Black Ops" though (perhaps the only "Call of Duty" I enjoyed playing without friends), but due to all the happenings around alterOps, interLabs and I believe even revOps, I just lost interest. And even after all that the game was still as expensive on Steam.

Anyways, I'm ready for "Black Ops 2".

Edit: look at the censoring :o

What's a good replacement for BO2? Halo 4! So I'm buying Halo 4 instead of BO2.

that's xbox exclusive and likely still doesn't feature ADS though

As in every halo game there's zooming on most of the guns, which is pretty much like ADS. And it's xbox exclusive and that's the only reason why I actually have an xbox, to play an FPS which I pretty much suck at.

No game other than Counter-Strike and every other online shooter ever made that doesn't involve vehicles.

Yes, the maps were always small, but the maps in BO and IW5 take it to the next level and make it shoebox sized. IW3 and IW4 had Shipment and Rust, but they still had some larger maps like Bloc and Derail. i dunno what kind of a supernatural FPS would please you....
