u have to make sure that u have written the right command on your shortcut. cus the server.cfg is at its place so go thru tutorials on how to configure ur shortcut or something or just get a friend or someone to look at it

nevermind figured out

so i got it to work i can see my server but it has the wrong name and my modz dont load.... the way i load into my server is by connect (personal ip) and it connects but no mods and its not the right name

Then you're somehow loading the wrong config or something

Paste your server parameters again and your whole server.cfg in

If I host this on a VPS, do I have to upload all the gamefiles to my VPS?

Or can I just download them to my VPS, from the piratebay steam??

Yes, but not all

In the main directory you can leave out the video folder as dediservers won't need them

I would not recommend the skidrow release if you're downloading to the server as there may be some problems with the .iso files

Since I have only 10 gigs of hard disk, and this is only a test how I like the dedi server to have for my own.

Is my port forwarding already done? Or what do I need to do? It does not show in the Internet servers and I connect in console and says "Unable to connect to host". What do I need to do?

Your router does NOT have an option to remember the internal ips of each computer (welcome to Portugal) lol

You have to keep changing the forwardings each time your internal IP changes. Another option if to manually define your TPC settings to your computer's network adapter.

You would have better luck getting support for that if you posted on the portuguese section on the forum, since half of the Portuguese people are used to live with that router (Zon's Jungo).

I was around during the Alter days, and had a blast playing with the people in the community. Well, I just got (today) a legit copy of the game and want to set up a server.

 

My dumb question is - do I need steam to run this on a seperate machine? I do not plan to run it on my gaming rig, but a seperate machine that is dedicated to COD4, TS and several other servers (not all at the same time, of course).

Nope, you really DON'T need steam to run IW4M (either server or client).

Here is a rather odd problem I'm running into. When I run the shortcut (and yes, I am using the cmd par from here) I get the following error -

 

Error during initialization:

Couldn't load fileSysCheck.cfg. Make sure Modern Warfare 2 is run from the correct folder.

 

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!!

Heyy, when i right click the shortcut and paste the code into the target box, it comes up with a error saying the "the name 'set+' specified in the target box is invalid. what am i suppose to do? or am i doing everything all wrong? please help, thanks
