I have forward the ports but a program i use to check them it says that are closed.

I think so. First, if you changed the router settings, you must restart the router. Start your server again and try to join. If this not work, try to trigger your port-open your router page and below virС‚ual server is a triggering port. Enter port 28960 or 28961 and save,then restart the router again(i'm not so sure for that part,be cause i realy don't have idea how's the router work)

Sweet guide, others can see my server but I can't though, why is this? Thanks again for the guide.

I have problem with my new dedicated server. I followed the instructions. I forward ports in my router (28961,28960), installed b3, config iw4m.exe, isnipemod loaded. Antivir off, firewall off. Server runs very well but nobody can join. Server is invisible on serverlist. I can connect with my server only via ipv4. My friends cannot find server on list and they cannot join via public ip. Someone can help me?

"-dedicated" always comes first... ("-console" is optional but not recommended)

Also, if you play on the same computer as you host, (wich is a bad idea) don't use port 28960 for the server, since that's the one your client uses.

Ok, now I took a look at your print and noticed that you have a Thomson TG series router.

My ISP is also distributing those craps and I faced the same problem as you're facing now. Although we configure the port forwarding, the ports get forwarded, but not open...

My "solution" was to get another router. With this new router, the port forwarding worked on my very first attempt.

Some people claimed that it was possible to actually open the ports on that router through telnet commands. But that got blocked aswell on the latest firmware updates.

If you want my advice, do as I did and get a decent router to replace/add to that crap (I had to add it because I had to keep that crap for IPTV).

Can you try to connect directly to internet, without the router. Then start your server and try to join. If this work, you will know where is the problem...

I Have Updated And Made A mw2 Server but cant connect to it on wired or wireless connection when trying to connect to it it does not pick up the server

is it at all possible to host a server on my own pc that i play mw2 on every night, then have it listed in the server browser?

 

you say said that this tutorial is for a dedicated server ie a payed for unit from a specialist company ie not my PC

 

when i chat to people in game they say they are using there own home gaming pc to play and use as a server.

 

i want to set up a server, do i need to rent one from say rackage or gameservers.com?

 

or can i use my home pc and game on it at the same time.
