Can't get it here for that money. Quad Core costs $200.

Quick look tells me AMD FX-8350 is ~170 euros around here, that's supposed to be an 8-core.

Just buy an Intel quad core and you're good for a few years. By the time additional 4 cores in those AMDs can be fully used in games, the architecture is gonna be old anyway. Same thibg happened to s775 quad cores, dual cpres of that tines were a lot faster in games, and only few games could use theor full power, untill games started using quad cores there were new sockets and s775 was outdated.

Just get the cheapest i5 2xxx/3xxx.

I agree, but my assumption was that he will use it primarily for gaming. Dunno, let's just wait and see what OP needs it for.

Also overclocking would be out of question here then, you would also be dependent of Motherboard, cooler and the unlocked chips. (which are pricey)

i guess it does take a good amount of power (on the site it only says 0.9375V - 1.4125V)
