Just like the title says, I can't open LaunchIW5M.exe

When I do, the "loading wheel" appears for a few split seconds and then disappears. That's it. I tried runnning it as administrator, didn't work.

BTW: When I ran it for the first time, it opened and made all of the updates. After that I can't open it anymore. There is no login.

Just noticed that when I try to open it, the process appears very shortly in the task manager, then disappears.

Maybe try verifying the steam cache, then redo the 4D1 install?

the game is freshly installed off steam as well as 4D1. I see no point in doing that.

Just a suggestion.

Try running iw5mp.dat instead..

Do so by renaming the iw5m.dat extension to .exe

Tried this as well. Still, the login windows does not appear.

Try deleting that last dll in the image you put.

Ok, tried that. Didn't do anything.

Oh and by the way, I have had this problem with IW4MP (MW2) as well. Exactly the same. I wasn't able to fix it and ended up uninstalling it. I kind of wonder if it is not a Windows problem maybe? For some reason the login window does not pop up ...

After so much frustration and waiting for an answer, I finally decided to simply uninstall the game.

How about allowing it through firewall and anti-virus?

I've seen this problem with some local players

Did that. Disabled anti-virus and firewall. Restarted a few times. Nothing.

Ok. I opened "Dependency Walker" as an administrator (Thanks @lmaobox) and the profiling started. Here is the result.

However, now it crashes at exactly IERTUTIL.DLL for some reason. Tried three times, but it keeps on freezing at that certain point and the application (dependency walker) stops responding.

I messed around with the program a little bit and now I got the log without it crashing.

I did a full system scan with Avast (Anti-Virus) to see if there is any malware or virus on my PC that isn't allowing me to open the application. I wasn't able to find a virus, however something very interesting showed up:

I do not understand why it is looking for the folder "a popular fps series iw5" when the folder is actually called "©all of duty (m)odern (w)arfare 3". This is quite weird to be honest... I tried renaming my folder from "©all of duty (m)odern (w)arfare 3" to "a popular fps series iw5" but it still doesn't work.

You are wrong, that's why people do have so much problems, you always need to run LaunchIW5M.

 

Hmm,i always run on iw5m caouse i have renamed iw5m.dot to iw5m.exe,and i get new icon like iw5m and that is my launcher and its work

I have the same exact problem.

Haven't played in a while and I came back to this problem...

Still trying to look for a solution.

 

Edit: Fixed it, not sure how, just kept opening and closing it... But now I am troubled with a new problem

It makes me somewhat sad knowing that this problem has never been solved so far and I doubt that it will get solved soon...
