Too many aimbotters/wallhackers makes the game unenjoyable.

Nearly every match there is at least one person that either uses an aimbot or wallhack and there is absolutely nothing one can do against them in-game, if no admins are online.

The only thing one could do is record them and then post that to the appropriate forums for that server, but then the damage has already been done, and time has been wasted.

I was thinking, why isn't there a way to voteban them for a day? That would at least discourage many aimbotters, as they will simply get banned for a day if many people notice them using it.

Of course, finding out if someone is wallhacking is quite difficult at times, aimbot on the other hand is quite easy to find...

So what are your thoughts on this?

If there would be an inquiry about "have you made a post here on the forum like this one", I'd bet it would have a LOT "YES"-counts.

This hacking issue, of what you were talking about, is not in the hands of 4D1 staffers. I'm pretty sure that you know, that hackers will get kicked/ banned only if an admin, who is online, decides to do so...

So nothing anybody here could help you. The only thing you could do is reg' into the servers' official board and pass the notes on, not here.

NTA probably should release a post, where he tells people that this IW4M is a modification, and like any modifications and games are, they don't let people to just connect to a server ad kick/ban players doing un-fair stuff (read: hacking).

That's pretty much all.

Just try to connect into servers, which most likely often have admins online & active. It's the servers, not "us".

You can voteban people on proper servers by typing /voteban in chat

This won't ban from the whole iw4m, but only from the server you banned him from. Think about good players who get votebanned often

I believe that's exactly what "/dev/zero" means.

Again, the servers, not "us"...

these 'good players' deserve it, they unbalance the game way too much

And that's why there's a FUCKING painkiller in this game, which makes it impossible to play on nuketown without shotguns(which can deal around 400 damage if you have stopping power) or kniferunning which will both take that nigs down in one hit

Love the Painkiller...

Thanks for all the replies, didn't expect this many ;).

If there would be an inquiry about "have you made a post here on the forum like this one", I'd bet it would have a LOT "YES"-counts.

I was just asking for input on this issue, not something specific.

EDIT: Nevermind, misread what you wrote :P.

Yea, I wrote that as one possibility in my post, but it's a waste of time, quite honestly. You record one guy, then post on the forums and hope for him to get banned, but until then the guy will keep ruining the subsequent matches (they tend to not leave, dispite people bashing them or saying that they will report etc.).

Then when that guy is banned, there comes the next... and so on.

So with a /voteban working on the servers, you can get rid of them in less than a minute.

Problem is, most of the time admins are not online. Or like today, I felt like playing MW2 at 5am in the morning, I can't expect them to be online so early.

That's why I try not to rely on admins too much, but when they are online it's great.

I've seen people try !voteban and other commands, and I've also tried /voteban on some servers but it never seemed to work.

Yes, I am aware that it only bans per-server, but from my experience those commands never worked. Banning people globally in 4D1 would be unfair, per-server is better in my opinion. Actually, I haven't seen others complain (that much) about good players unless something was fishy about them, or they are kniferunning/camping/using the shotgun attachment on hc server/other easy-win classes or techniques.

This is unfortunate... making the users susceptable to unfair play, when it could be easily dealt with (or at least dampened) is quite irritating.

While I agree good players unbalance the game, they are a necessary evil... without them the game would not be worthwhile. If there are no challenges, then why bother?

That's the same question I ask aimbotters... why bother to play when you only win? where's the challenge in that?

I'd vote against banning good players, unless there's something foul in play.

I have a solution to knifers. Why not just change knifeDamage (or was it meleeDamage) to 90 or 60 in the weapon files? (It would require 1-2 knifes to kill someone.)

pls only for user with tac knife. No kniferunning anymore :P

I'd rather see hit location multipliers

Mainly because actually 'good' players, and people who aren't even good, just do some annoying things get votekicked/banned instantly for not complying with the majority of players, even though they don't control the server.
