Hey guys, just a PC gamer here with a question.

 

Have you ever bought DLC or will you consider buying DLC? Doesn't matter the game or the DLC type.

It may be maps or guns, and if you are a Battlefield player it may be both, but the very notion of paid DLC is insulting to me. I'd rather have mod tools + map editor.

 

It's bad enough that MOST companies charge for DLC, what we have now is Day 1 DLC, and we are going to use BO2 as an example. Let's say that they have a 1 year development cycle (which they do) and by that time they have to create decent versions for the PC, XB360 and PS3 and nobody's foolin nobody - XB gets done first, and the PC port always sux... now what they have is Day 1 DLC for people who have pre-ordered the game, you will be able to download Nuketown 2025 this means that they plan to have a decent version of the game AND free time to create DLC. I mean WTF. OPTIMIZE THE PC VERSION MORE, WE KNOW YOU WONT, BUT AT LEAST TRY... TRYING IS WHAT YOU ARE GOOD AT.

 

CoDs idiotic style of rolling out new maps just splits the community and since PC users don't get DLC, even if you get the DLC - nobody plays it, so you are stuck. I am strictly boycotting this shit, NO DLC of any kind shall be purchased by me. If something gets released - it gets released for all of us - free of charge.

 

You know what EPIC did with UT3? Released mod tools (as usual) + free DLC in terms of maps and gametypes, vehicles, etc. It was included with some fixes they borught in. This shit got me to buy Unreal Tournament 3 although I was able to play it with a pirated copy and they don't support it anymore. They show PC love - I show PC love.

 

So yeah. NO (paid) DLC!

I guess we can blame Acti for starting the paid DLC trend. I miss the days where the community adds more in-game content. It adds more experience to it.

 

Anyway, I'm never buying any DLC. Just like you said it's insulting, having to pay 2 or 3 maps for over $30. I wish things were like back in the days of CoD 4. You know, you just have to download the maps and not worry about your pocket money being sucked dry.

I totally agree to this, i never bought a DLC and never will. I do buy expansion packs if they are worth it.

 

Only ones i bought so far are the Expansion for Age Of Empires Gold and the Fall of the samurai for Shogun2.

Only DLC I've ever bought is BF3 premium, but DLCs should be free.

The only DLC I bought is Team Fortress 2 - Premium DLC. Nothing else.

I have only bought one DLC pack. That was for MW3 on my 360 (first map pack released), and no it was not worth it at all. All the maps sucked in my opinion. Some of the newer maps I like and might put out the money for on my console but that's it.

Agreed. The only company I ever bought DLC from is Rockstar games. EFLC was like an entire new game, that's why I love Rockstar games. Valve is even more awesome when it comes to DLC. Also, I'm boycotting Activision games. All of them.

Maybe. It all depends on the game. For example I will never buy a CoD DLC, because face it, they are all rubbish.

The zombie maps for BlOps weren't too bad, though I'd never have bought them myself.

- I DID, after much going back and forth, decide to buy the DLC packs for Black Ops. I've got into Combat Training a lot lately with all the nice in-game stats tracking and all and since Regular is pretty competitive, I don't mind getting DLC for a game I that I KNOW I can enjoy. And BO CT is pretty no-BS. It has its kinks, but it's a fun game.

 

- I DID buy one of the 3 DLC packs for Halo: Reach only because it featured a new Firefight map. I used to play Halo: Reach endlessly, but the multiplayer has turned into a craptastic piece of shit, so now I pretty much only play Firefight. Unearthed is a great FF map though. And just like Blops CT, there's great, in-depth stat tracking (even for Firefight) on Halo: Waypoint. Black Ops CT definitely has the most in-depth stats tracking that you can access in-game though. I hope BO2 doesn't conform to Elite and get rid of all that...

Agreed. Like it was years before: FREE Addons were released. Or free content came with a FREE patch.

 

Only bought 1 DLC (Digital deluxe pack for Red Orchestra 2, however the game was extremely cheap at that time on steam, so I thought paying 2€ more isnt a big deal).

If the DLC has good content expanding the playtime greatly, then yes, I might buy it.

I am seeing a lot of BF3 bullshit going on and I honestly don't understand why do you go so hard on ATVI and not on EA (Emulating Activision) since they ARE worst. How can you sell maps + guns + RESERVATION slots on dedicated servers. If I was a BF player I was going to be outraged, because they are essentially better than me for paying more, this is fucking apartheid. Am I a fucking black person in the 1960's USA forced to sit on the back of the bus? I've already spoken about the maps and how the split the communiy which sux in CoD but since nobody on PC gets them, we dont feel it that much.. but adding a ton of content for a single group only? Let's say you have invested $50 in BF3 and it's the one game you could've bought this year (a lot of players) you like it for some reason, you are fairly good at it, it's your source of joy and BAM, they put a fucking price tag on it and the premium shit costs $60 and it is at this point that you realize: what the fuck is going on.

 

And everybody is on line at sucking off DICE for adding a lot of content (which compromises of generic things) and appearing to be working on the game but trust me, neither their time nor their skill is worth what they are getting.

 

Mod tools and a map editor would've done a lot better at providing quality content for everyone at 0 cost which is the only correct way to go. This is about the company profile side of things... it's just bad business. The people who support bad business because it suits them are a whole different story.

I never buy DLC. Because I am paying game 50 dollars and even 50 dollars is expensive for me and they want lots of money for DLCs.

I agree, also buying BF3 premium is a good idea, 60$/year and you get all the DLCs + some priority when entering a server(if you do not want to wait just get out and play in another server, its easy, lol)

 

Of course Im not going to buy COD DLCs, they are too expensive for what they have in each DLC...

I'm going to get Premium later this month, probably the only time I'm buying DLC after Crysis 2. Buying Crysis 2 DLC was a waste of $20, no one played on PS3 a couple of months after release.

I really never buy DLC. When it comes to DLC I go with the motto called "You get what you paid for" So I payed $60 for MW3 and I should get everything that involves the game MW3. That means the new Map Packs.

Also I am not expecting for BF4. Something tells me that the way EA is following Activision footsteps they are gonna mess the game up or even worst make us pay more for some stupid addon. I mean really DICE did just start making BF4? You should of made BC3. Battlefield series are suppose to release every 4-5 years not every year in my oppinion it should of been like how many years it took between BF2 - BF3 not every year it really washes the game out just like the MW series. So would I pay more for Addon Content? No I already paid for the game not give me everything that works with the game.
