What?
A random idea I just had some time after thinking of how I should handle upcoming 'migration day' (the day where I perform an in-place upgrade to a new Windows release right after the RTM hits without caring about backups of the old OS or any such), which is irrelevant, I came up with an idea that might've suited aIW better, but might work for IW5M's release as well.
Anyway, the launch event idea would be a live AV stream (someone experienced with live streaming?) of gameplay (most likely spectated, just browsing through random servers or so), commentated by some person who runs through a bit of a schedule (60-90m should be able to fit in people's timeslots and be fillable) consisting of possibly 'important' staff interviews (where the person obviously has to have a proper English accent and be a bit understandable; having another person talking to me generally also takes away the 'loss of focus' my voice keeps having when speaking alone, so it could feature me as well) and some other stuff.
Why?
Well, rather, why not? If properly announced beforehand, it could cause a lot of attention for this one event and the initial download of IW5M. As IW5M runs on mostly stable tech, I'm not expecting any major server-side issues with the release either, so I don't expect such chaos to overrun the event.
Who?
We'll need at least a person with an internet connection/system capable of uploading a proper-resolution (852x480 minimum) AV stream to one of the popular live streaming services. As well, a person (which doesn't need to be the same person, seeing as audio can be streamed externally as well) with an understandable voice would be needed to perform the audio component.
When?
I had thought up a large sequence for this segment, but I'll just make it short here: in case IW5M becomes releasable early enough to have all the kids still on their summer break from school, it should be possible to just use a random weekday night and get most people able to tune/join in (Europeans, North American kids, maybe some others) to the event.
Of course, it needs to be properly announced beforehand, and set up as well - as seems to happen often with 'this' community, things that try to be planned generally go wrong horribly.
Anyway, comments?
