What?

A random idea I just had some time after thinking of how I should handle upcoming 'migration day' (the day where I perform an in-place upgrade to a new Windows release right after the RTM hits without caring about backups of the old OS or any such), which is irrelevant, I came up with an idea that might've suited aIW better, but might work for IW5M's release as well.

Anyway, the launch event idea would be a live AV stream (someone experienced with live streaming?) of gameplay (most likely spectated, just browsing through random servers or so), commentated by some person who runs through a bit of a schedule (60-90m should be able to fit in people's timeslots and be fillable) consisting of possibly 'important' staff interviews (where the person obviously has to have a proper English accent and be a bit understandable; having another person talking to me generally also takes away the 'loss of focus' my voice keeps having when speaking alone, so it could feature me as well) and some other stuff.

Why?

Well, rather, why not? If properly announced beforehand, it could cause a lot of attention for this one event and the initial download of IW5M. As IW5M runs on mostly stable tech, I'm not expecting any major server-side issues with the release either, so I don't expect such chaos to overrun the event.

Who?

We'll need at least a person with an internet connection/system capable of uploading a proper-resolution (852x480 minimum) AV stream to one of the popular live streaming services. As well, a person (which doesn't need to be the same person, seeing as audio can be streamed externally as well) with an understandable voice would be needed to perform the audio component.

When?

I had thought up a large sequence for this segment, but I'll just make it short here: in case IW5M becomes releasable early enough to have all the kids still on their summer break from school, it should be possible to just use a random weekday night and get most people able to tune/join in (Europeans, North American kids, maybe some others) to the event.

Of course, it needs to be properly announced beforehand, and set up as well - as seems to happen often with 'this' community, things that try to be planned generally go wrong horribly.

Anyway, comments?

Well, my connection is more than capable of handling such a stream, probably even 720p or higher. The problem is my PC itself, it doesn't like screen-recording, for some reason. I haven't tried live-streaming in a while, maybe I can test it sometime.

Content-wise, I think we should script most of it, otherwise this will turn into a proper chaos. If you want to do 60-90m, you will need multiple speakers, perhaps cycling through them, or have them present simultaneously.

In my experience in aIW, a lot of users really enjoy playing with staff, so maybe we can set-up something with that.

What isn't fully clear to me, is if you want to do this stream after it is released, or before.

My idea would be to have a sort of countdown; The files are released in advance, clearly stating that they cannot be used yet, and to have the stream evolve around the countdown to server start. Let that be 20-30m or so, then when it opens, we play the game with our users, as said above.

PS. above was a bit of brainstorming, so it isn't really fluent ;p

ahyes, forgot about that part. that sounds good

Well so far I like this idea a lot.. as for the recorders/broadcasters I would say rechyyy for a start since he does know a bit of English and is probably a big helper since he has 70K subscribers on his channel -http://www.youtube.com/user/clayman90- he also posts a frequent amount of videos on 4D1 and somewhat publicizes it through his comments about people asking where to get it. I'm sure some of our Staff such as gaminitupp will have a really decent computer as he already bought a GTX 680 which is arriving soon *tomorrow 7/31*. We can also have a huge Staff vs Staff game and we will all be in Teamspeak or in a Skype call talking about the match and overall IW5M which will also be broadcasting. rechyyy should also stream that to his YT channel as he knows a ton of other major YT people such as IncredibleOrb and Machinima *._.* anyone else got any suggestions?

Don't think you want to do this on YouTube though, not too reliable wiht live streams

Also, I don't think that using a member is a great idea, but that's just my opinion

He's well known from everywhere.. and since he is an adult, he can most -likely- keep a secret.

Well, I'm not too familiar with live stream, (never done it myself) although I know some people who use to do it on LAN party/online tournaments (I could ask their help, but their speaking skills are not so great). I've seen a couple of those CoD4 streams, and I think it would be really nice to see it on IW5M launch.

p.s.: FlaCCidCookie, are you sure that you tried the capture with windows aero disabled? (with some windows classic theme).

To finish this technical part, we will need some staff member responsible for hosting the launch servers (to make sure that we got proper configured servers at day 1 for the stream). I can't offer myself since my internet connection is crap...

Apart from the technical part, yes, it would be a good idea if all staff could be present to play with our members. We could spread across the servers so that the most of the players would have the chance to play with us. The fact that they would be able to play with us at that day would ensure that they wouldn't want to miss it, meaning that we could imediatly start with a good playerbase.

NTAuthority, what could go bad is if some smart asses decide to fill our servers, cheating during the streams. There are way too many cheats for MW3 out there. We would need an aCI that would recognize the most of MW3 cheats and do an immediate kb as soon as the cheat is detected.

I'm almost sure that the cheaters will try to have their fun at the game's launch. If we're not ready to deal with this, this "day 1 propaganda" may turn against us.

and we will all be in Teamspeak or in a Skype call talking

This would be a good idea. So that the members could get our live feedback.

Private Server duh.. but then he would need to make Password servers working properly.

Well, I think this event should be "as open" as possible. I think the idea is to bring the community to us.

But yes, maybe the streams should be made from private servers, just in case... We could choose some members for each of our private servers and then join them there for the streams. Other then streaming, we should be playing with players on the most of the servers that are online that day. Making them feel closer to us.

We should choose carefully those who will appear on the streams. Those will be the ones who will promote the channel where they will be showing up at. Choosing members from various geographical points might be a good idea.

Right up the heels Modern Warfare 2, the fourdeltaone team has been developing Call of Duty: IW5M. We are making a more sophisticated and deeper Call of Duty experience. Variety is the next big thing for us. We are going deeper, we are going harder.

Enough of that. I have already volunteered. I have the internet connection to deliver this in 720p, as well as the technical capacity of my machine not to faulter. My English should suffice, after all I study it in Sofia University (English major), and even though I rarely bother to hide my "russian" accent I shall be sure to do so while (if) casting. My experience as a commentator spans over a year and I'm pretty good at thinking on my feet. As well as an experienced Call of Duty player, I believe I shall be able to provide excellent spectating and capture the best moments of the launch that we'd all love to remember one day.

I would be glad to work with rechyyy on this one and I can approach him myself as I have a contact with him, but I do not believe he will be up to do this on his own due to the fact that:

1. He does not do commentaries

2. He actually cannot afford to have this much to do with us, he has already received violation strikes due to ATVI

I myself have gotten my previous channel deleted (over 100 aIW videos) and I don't care about my current one that much as to not to lose it again. Though this should be put exclusively on FDO's YouTube, any other service is just too inconvenient for viewers.

I require a few days notice so I can take a day off from work so that I may dedicate myself 100% on this.

I have sent a speedtest to NTA in IRC and can provide one here if is needed.

Dat accent can be really annoying sometimes :3

I guess we need someone with proper american/british english accent(no, pigo, no.)

Опубликовано:

Once again, this will not be on youtube, for the simple reason that our channel doesn't have live-streams enabled (yet). So I guess the hoster will need to get familiar with twitch or so, aand we should do some test streams.

Опубликовано:
Yeah, the steams that I saw so far were all on twitch

As for youtube, we could later make an edit with the best moments of our steams and publish it there.

afaik twitch gives you a full copy of your stream, and I think we can upload big videos on our channel

Опубликовано:

I've made livestrams on Twitch.tv before (both live camera and screen recording). I have a nice connection, but my pc can't handle the recording + gaming.

Apart from that, I can also appear/help on the spoken part. You guys know I'm (unfortunately) way too proud of my english and commentating skills  .

Опубликовано:

Nice idea, people still love to play with staff. The only problem would be hacks, as mentioned above. Also the livestream is a good idea, and we could always make a ''funnies&fail'' video for YouTube.

Опубликовано:

I could probably be able to handle streaming, my computer is powerful enough

The only problem being my 2 up connection and everyone else at my house hogging it when I want to use it ._. It's not very reliable because of that

If staff is going to be in a VoiP call, I'm up for that

I'm English, but I won't be able to talk to people unless I have a script, haha

My improv is terrible

though let me know if I can help anyway, I can always test the streaming

Опубликовано:

I'm afraid that I will not be able to participate if it is to be held in the summer holidays - my mum doesn't like me talking to strangers (yes, she's controlling like that), and I've repeatedly told her that I don't game :/ (she's a devout Christian with rock solid morals). If it is held in August, the most I'll be able to do is silently game and chat (although if my parents are out, that all changes). I'll be able to talk through Skype if this is held in September (I'll be back at school then), and I could always set up a V[censored] to play with you guys at school, and join in the fun.

Unfortunately, you'll have to miss my awesome English accent (why am I the only one with that :()

I could host countdowns and stuff with my almighty mufff.in, as I have done in the past (hell, I have plenty of experience in doing countdowns for the smallest things ;p).

About streaming, my machine is not capable. Mm.

Опубликовано:

I'd love to do the actual streaming since my new GPU is coming today, and I think I fulfill the English requirement. :P

I'm pretty much free for the rest of August until school kicks back up again, and I'll be able to take a couple hours of a day to participate in this stream.
